For the 3 people in this 55-page thread who are watching this in Dolby Vision, do you notice any lip sync issues? Where the image onscreen lags about 2 seconds behind the audio?

No issues on my end. Grandson and I watched it twice.

Got about halfway through on Tuesday, put it back in and rewatched from the beginning today.

It was an ok movie to me, and an ok disc. A few decent HDR moments, some good atmosphere at times and better color... some neat concepts, and I kinda like this take on the character. Gotta root for the kid. Kinda fuzzy sometimes and not a whole lot going on detail wise imo. Contrast and skin tones get a tiny bit crispy here and there, and it's hard to really get into the after school special motif (that's just me). I watch on HDR10, no Dolby Vision set up here.

Transformers Last Knight was light years ahead in detail and spectacle, and the grass color alone was next level. Wonder Woman is way ahead in color and pop (and as a similarly jovial first outing in 2017)... similarly soft, but less so, and a lot more visually interesting. Not to mention a lot of other releases that do some things or every thing better.

I was blown away by Baby Driver last week, underwhelmed by this. YMMV.

It does. But it's source material predisposed it's time. Thor is a different. This Thor is more like those BLu-ray shorts of him hanging around some Aussie roommate's place. If that is Thor to you, than you will love the movie. As a friend commented on the way out of the theater, it's almost like a super expensive Thor version of the Batman tv series.

Just saw this. Wow, what a great movie. Certainly the best Spiderman film ever for me. Loved the sense of humor.

PQ was top notch - couldn't find anything to complain about. Audio great too.

Yes. He picked on Peter every chance he got.

That dude was no where near 80 pounds nor was he a nerd. You missed the point though, he had the personality. How dare they give us a realistic representation of a teenager though!

There is a difference though. DareDevil and Punisher are supposed to be darker characters. Superman IS NOT! If DC wants to do dark movies, they can make movies on Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine, Phantom Stranger, Dr Fate, Etrigan, El Diablo, House of Secrets, House of Mystery, etc. They have plenty of characters that are made for that type of stuff. They can make The Spectre be a grindhouse type film. The two House movies could work as horror anthologies. Phantom Stranger could be a ghost story. Dr Fate would work as a super natural thriller.

Then they could do a crime noir with The Question since they love their crime stories. Hell, even Jonah Hex could get away with some dark stuff.

When they do Superman, Flash, WW, and Green Lantern though, they are NOT dealing with grim dark characters. Those characters should NEVER be grim dark. That defies their point. Those ones are heroes, they are supposed to be colorful, hopeful. good people, and save everyone and everything around them that they can. They should not intentionally be killing people.

If you want to see who the true Superman is supposed to be, watch his speech to Darkseid from the final episode to JLU. Or watch Captain Marvel's speech to the league in the episode he appeared in. If a hero acts the same as a villain, they are no different.

Now for Marvel's dark characters, they also have Morbius, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night, The Living Mummy, Frankenstein's Monster, Nightstalkers, Darkhold Redeemers, and of course, Ghost Rider.

We got the grandeur and Shakespeare of Thor and nobody cared
We got the dark brooding Thor and nobody cared
I am seeing this as the director is a genius and it looks straight Kirby and it does not get more comicbook than Kirby

BvS UC is a great great film, that is all.

Also, Homecoming imo doesn't come close to Raimi's first two SM films. Spider-Man 2 is arguably one of the greatest superhero films of all time. More importantly, Homecoming not only falls short of Spidey 1 & 2 on a sheer filmmaking level, whether it's cinematography (but that's a general complaint of mine with the MCU), mise en scene or the action, but it also doesn't have a tenth of the heart, soul & spirit of Spider-Man 1 & 2.

Still a good film though, just very forgettable imo and I'm a massive Spider-Man fan.

It's not even as good as TASM1 or TASM2. Seriously, they have better supporting characters, stronger emotional impacts, and much better action. Heck, the same goes for SM3. These three alternative Spidey flicks may be written poorly relative to HC, but they're better in every other aspect and are therefore better overall. Oh, and they're not boring.

Wow, critiquing a whole movie based on one scene. All I've been hearing is about the infamous car scene. What about the endless boring interactions between Peter and his high school friends? It took me 3 sessions to finish this movie. What a snoozer.

So you weren't sitting on the edge of your sit when Peter had to suffer the wrath of his high school buddies for not showing up at the contest? [emoji38]

If you wanted to argue that ASM2 was better then fine, because I personally love it as a so-bad-it's-good train wreck (although **** me if I can think of any genuinely decent characters that aren't spidey himself) but ASM1 is as cookie cutter and bland as bland and cookie cutter get, a total product of post-Dark Knight 'serious' comic book movies that seem ashamed of their light hearted source material. Sure it's not genuinely bad on the level of the similarly joyless Fant4stic, but that's the problem, it's just painfully average. Oh and very very boring.
