Jason and the Argonauts was a comic after the movie came out. It's a comic based on a movie, not a movie based on a comic.

300 is most certainly a comic book movie. Any argument against that is illogical. A comic loosely based on history is still considered a comic. Simply pick up the graphic novel. The director used that comic and made a movie almost frame for frame like the panels of the comic. It is the literal definition of a movie made from a comic book.

In addition:

When 300 was released historians complained that the movie was not accurate. The director, Zack Snyder, responded by saying that the movie was based on a comic, not history.

When 300 was released, Warner Brothers, local theaters, magazines, newspapers, etc. did cross promotions with comic stores to promote the movie.

Finally - the movie was aggressively promoted as being a movie based on a comic.

"From the creator of Sin City" which was previously touted as being the most faithful comic book adaptation.

Even the international posters celebrated the "comic author Frank Miller"
