Default Now that EA owns Bioware, any chance of Mass Effect coming to PS3??

So far there have been exactly 2 games on the 360 that I have really wanted to play, one is Left 4 Dead and the other is Mass Effect. It already looks like EA is going to be bringing Left 4 Dead to the PS3, so what about Mass Effect. Since EA owns them now, has anyone heard if a port of Mass Effect might make it to PS3??

I don't see it happening. bioware is probably working hard on Mass Effect 2.

I would say so - EA likes putting their games out on every platform imaginable: PS3, 360, Wii, Gamecube, PC, Super Nintendo, Neo Geo...

I am a little disappointed, because EA has not been my favorite gaming company as of the last few years. But, who knows? Mass Effect could be coming to PS3, which would be sweet. And it might just be high quality.

This game was such a let down.

I thought it was great. That game pretty much ruined turn based RPGs for me. Now i can't stand turn based rpgs.

Buy it off Steam. It is a much better game on the PC than on consoles. Unless a PS3 version comes with M+KB, it won't be any good...

Mass Effect was a bit of a letdown for me as well on 360, for two reasons.

Bad framerate in a lot of important battles (those with multiple enemies on the screen), and the fact that it was limited by DVD size.

Fly from one end of the galaxy to the other, only to run into the exact same cave? bah!

Neither one of these issues would be fixed by a PS3 port either.

Having said all that, Mass Effect still kicked much butt.

BioWare didn't port Mass Effect to the PC, so they don't have to be the ones to do a PS3 port either. And with EA involved, I suspect we will at the very least see the sequels on the PS3.

+1 I "hope" they do not let this grace my console of choice. I would hate to have to endure long load sequences and horrid framerate issue being ported to my vastly superior ps3. Let them keep this game, did not care for the gameplay on this so called "rpg"

Possible, doubtful right now, we're looking at a more soonish release of ME2 than not. So I dunno. That said, the PC version plays alot better than the 360, have heard some 'ok' things about the 360 version performing better with NXE though.

Mass Effect did not use the full 9 gig space on the standard dvd, so how it was limited by disk size in any way, I'm not sure....we could have used more 'cave' diversity, for sure!

M.E. had bad framerate in two key battles, and good lord that did irritate. We will probably see M.E. 2 for both the Ps3 and 360.....for those do not have a 360, you can play Mass Effect on Pc...just bought this for my sister, and it cost me $30 new...

There are a couple of Mass effect novels that I recommend to - wrtitten by one of the main writers of the game, so these are no ports!

Well, for some hilarious copy-protection reason, the 360 can't use the full capacity of a DVD, I believe the limit is around 7 GB for a dual-layer disc.

Redeemed to the 'gamers' and redeemed to their shareholders are different things unforunately. EA's quality policy has been getting some flack from analysts in that regard [the increase in quality not paying off the 'increased cost' of that quality]. So I dunno, will see this coming year how it shapes up.

First off, where did you hear that L4D is coming to the PS3? And second off, if they want the ME trilogy on the PS3, then they should port the first game, much like what 2k did with Bioshock....I would buy it, but I only buy old ports for $30 at the very most, considering the problems ME had, I would say I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it.

I really wish people would quit tossing this trash around. SOME people can't afford to own both a PS3 and a $1000 top-notch gaming quality PC. Or they just don't CARE. I'd so much rather play games on my 40" TV from 8 feet away than from in front of my 21" monitor 2 feet away. Refresh rates on monitors and the way the pixels come together are just nuts. If I use no vision correction while I am typing this, I won't be able to read it. If it was a book sitting at the same distance, I could read it. If it was my TV, I could read it. Why not a monitor? Again, who wants to drop $300 per 6 months just so that they can play the latest PC game? I pity your sister if she had to upgrade her PC for your "gift".

I got Mass Effect on PC early this year after it was released, and it's a remarkable game in many ways. Definitely one of the best PC games on the year, and the PC version is miles better than the Xbox 360 version, with much better framerate, no texture pop-in, and much vastly reduced load times.

A PS3 version (quite possible, considering it's using the same underlying tech as Bioshock, which also got ported quite successfully) would likely take advantage of the PS3 HDD and not have some of the problems of the 360 version, but Unreal Engine 3 only works "so-so" on the PS3, so I don't know if that would throw extra wrinkles into the equation.

In any case I'll be getting ME2 on PC more likely than not unless a PS3 version is released with glowing reviews (unlikely, but possible).

Rubbish, my venerable 8800GTX still plays all games to this day, hell, my 6800 Ultra doesn't do a bad job either. The only way you are upgrading every 6 months is if you are a victim of advertising and keeping up with the Jones'. I mean sure you could buy a GT200/RV770 based card and pay $500 but you can also get the 8800GTX for just $150, and that pretty much every game (barring maybe Crysis) to an good standard.
