I am trying to set up my new Blu-ray player - how do I know if my TV has a 24fps refresh rate? I have looked through my user manual but I see no mention of fps. I currently have a Pioneer Elite Plama PRO-1140HD display. Is it safe to assume that if they don't call it out in the manual that it does not support it?

sorry, the user manual is non specific whether it will do a 3:3 pulldown or not.

All Pioneer displays every made including the 720P (768P) models that include a 1080P/24 feature will refresh the image on the screen at 72HZ. Now the 720P(768P) models will donconvert the image from 1080P/24 and display the image a 720P (768P) at 72HZ.

The Pioneer PRO-1140HD is not on the list since only 1920 X 1080P models are placed on the list. The PRO-1140HD is a 1365 X 768P pixel display which qualifies it as a 720P or slightly better then 720P. Still according to reviews the 720P (768P) Pioneers have a over all better picture quality when compared to most other 1080P models on the market do to the deep blacks and contrast ratio that adds contrast detail instead of resoultion detail. On page 117 of the manual lists the resolution and on page 59 list the 72HZ refresh rate. The Pioneer should automatically display 1080P/24 signals at 720P (768P) at 72HZ refresh rate regardless of menu settings. In order to do a reverse 3:2 pulldown for 60HZ film based material like DVD,cable, and satellite movies one needs to switch the Pioneer to the advanced mode like it is mentioned on page 59 of the manual.
