Slowly making my way through my collection. Enjoyed both Jurassic Park 3D and Jurassic World 3D - I think I'd give the original a slight edge, but I'm not sure if that's just my nostalgia for the original versus Chris Pratt's dinosaur whispering. Both had good close-ups and medium shots, wider shots that I wished were more impressive, and the occasional feeling of cardboard cutouts.

My 3D watch list:
[Show spoiler]1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
2. Rogue One
3. Wonder Woman
4. Jurassic Park
5. Jurassic World

Last 3D release purchased was Dead Men Tell No Tales - the 3D defiantly enhanced my enjoyment of the film, it wasn't the best of the franchise but certainly not the worst. I felt the 3D was better than On Stranger Tides. Having upgraded all my equipment to 4K, I must admit that I'm sorely disappointed in UHD which is mostly marginal at best with most of the movies I've seen so far, whereas 3D really immerses you in the experience.

Getting used to reading English subtitles without taking my eyes off the stunning 3D on so many of them. My better half too!

Unsurprisingly, I enjoyed this a lot more in 3D than I did in 2D. I still find the film a not-scary dull-looking (boring bluey greeny grey visuals throughout) universe-building mess that's an excuse for Tom Cruise to do his lovable rogue thing and run a lot, but despite the Cruiser's charm falling desperately flat, the film moves at a fair pace and the zombies are the best I've seen in a PG13.

Needless to say, the 3D is at its best in the plane sequence, with the bird strike happening in your face. Shame there weren't more pop-outs like that really, as most of the 3D is depth-only. The film spends far too much of its time in tunnels and underground spaces, so the 3D enhances those nicely but the outdoor scenes in the forest are a bit dark to really pop. The London street scenes reminded me a little of Doctor Strange and Thor The Dark World but they were all too brief.

The bottom line for me is that this is another one of those conversions that won't convert anyone to the joys of 3D but if you have a good TV it will still impress far more than any pancake version could hope to, particularly given the muted palette.
Why do you not post this in the main Mummy thread also?

I think this is a very handsome looking movie due to being shot on film. I think it looks stunning and it's nice to have a big movie like this not be afraid to have lots of visually very dark scenes.

I agree about the 3D. I think it adds a lot but could be so much more. IMO all this movie really needed was to lose the terrible humour and the Vale character (after he dies) and I'd love it.

Hi Fatboy,

Then I'm really lucky to have found it. Described as mint condition and a total $32.56 with shipping, think I got a good price?

Even if overpaid, glad I have it!

I haven't seen this movie in decades, so I watched it with interest today.

It's actually shocking how good this movie still looks, quite remarkable.

The fossil claw at the very beginning let's you know, this is a 3D movie!

As a kid in the 80's, I first saw this on TV during an advertised 3D broadcast.

As I recall, you had to get your 3D glasses at 7/11 stores with a Big Gulp drink.

The 3D wasn't too good on TV, but it set the stage for a new generation of 3D fans.
This film (3D) is just £6 on Amazon UK. Bargain.

I went with the German release hoping the cover is reversible. Those ratings stamps drive me nuts!

I've preordered the 4k/3d combo pack of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales from Amazon Japan today, can't wait to check it out in 3d, i've had it with Disney not releasing this film on blu ray 3d in the U.S., can't wait to have it in my hands.

I'd be curious to know if the titles actually say "DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES" or if it has the worldwide release of "SALAZAR'S REVENGE".

I ordered Cars 3 and Valerian from UK, but forgot all about Despicable Me 3. D'oh! I thought it wasn't out until December.

Funny enough, I just got my Mummy 3D steelbook in the mail today. Strangely, the spine is solid black... no title and no pictures.

I enjoyed it more than when I saw it in theaters where I was forced to watch it in only two dimensions. The 3D was stronger than I anticipated after reading so many lackluster reviews and is probably why I liked it better this time around. The opening scenarios describing the curse looked really good and there were other moments here and there that really stood out like the plane crash. I don’t remember any pop outs but most scenes had plenty of depth and I didn’t notice any ghosting or no cross talk.

The movie itself is entertaining and I want to like the concept of a monster-verse but it was just missing something... It was not a horror movie because it was never truly scary (it never made me jump or hold my breath) and it was devoid of the humor that made the other Mummy movies so entertaining, so I guess it was an adventure film. It missed the mark there though as well because the scope was so specific. I’m hoping it was simply laying the groundwork for more epic films to come.

I’m glad I purchased it and I’m glad to have this film in my 3D collection. It’s not a bad movie and I rather enjoyed watching it... there was just some spark missing. Does Dianetics offer a solution for this?
