I keep them on if they have unique art, but I definitely don't plan my purchases around them. I'm glad for all the packaging obsessives though, they're a big part of keeping physical media going. I just like to poke 'em a bit.

No display at my Best Buy and the only copy of Unforgiven on the shelves was $19.99. Lame.

Lame? I've been waiting a long time for this disc to be so reasonably priced, so I ordered it yesterday.

I don't get slipcovers either, but I keep the ones I get. I keep my discs in albums (apartment living these days) and store the entire case, with slip or not, for resale or whatever.

I did that several years ago and a lot of my discs got scratched to hell. Never again!

So the whole regular Blu-ray being released later this year is probably not going to happen now right?

Probably not, unless WB is gonna quietly just put remastered discs into old packaging and have people figure it out for themselves.

Yeah I kept all my music CDs in binders like that and they ended up scratched to hell and back. Wouldn't put my UHDs anywhere near one.

Yep, like you, I learned the hard way that disks come with hard cases for a reason.

Huh. I've been keeping all of my optical discs in albums and haven't had a scratched one yet. Not one. <shrug>

Just picked this up at BB. Outstanding picture in some instances but I was mostly impressed with the sound! It was truly immersive experience in places! I highly recommend this upgrade to fans of this film!

Well I thought I wanted this but now I am not so sure after reading Ralph Potts Review.

If you read the rest of that thread, you'll see that Ralph believed the 2012 BD re-release to be the same remaster that comes with the UHD , which is obviously wrong. This is the first time it's been remastered, (that shitty old VC-1 transfer compares with the UHD? I don't think so), so he can safely be ignored in that regard.

His reviews are hit and miss at best, so you're safe to buy it. It has never looked better.

I'm agnostic on slips but I've never thrown one away. I don't care if I get one on Amazon orders but given a choice in store I'll always get one with a slip but they are not a must have.

The only way you’ll know is if you see it for yourself. It’s a fantastic filmic transfer. Just like all of Clint’s work the image is very dark with overwhelming shadows but why the UHD is so good is the depth of the shadows thanks to HDR. No contest between this and previous releases.

It's not inconvenient because it takes, like, a second to remove the slipcover.
