It's kinda weird that one of the main X-Men movies is treated like some prequel that doesn't even fit-in with the tone of the rest of the franchise.
The Gifted feels kind of like it's in the original timeline ( post X3 ) leading to the dark future of Days of Future Past. But I don't think they care about continuity so it's probably just another variation on the idea.

I guess it doesn't "need" a followup, but it would be nice if X-23 and the others had some relevance to other films going forward.

I wonder how they are going to adapt Warlock in the sequel? Because like I said before, Warlock is a character that fits better in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie than Fox's X-Men universe. Also I never understood how Warlock is a mutant? Is he a mutant because he has empathy or what? Usually when Fox has the film rights to non-mutant characters like Deadpool and Juggernaut, they make them into mutants in the films. But in the case of Warlock, they might have to go full alien with him. I don't think they can just simply say he is a mutant right off the bat. Warlock is a very odd character to adapt.

I know, but Fox has been playing around with the idea of mutant extinction and a world without X-Men in this franchise lately. Don't know if they are trying to "connect" things or if it's just a coincidence.

But it does look like The New Mutants film is still playing around with the idea of a world without X-Men. Since The New Mutants would have probably been in the X-Mansion instead of some secret facility if the X-Men were still around. So in a way, Logan and The New Mutants might still be connected in a way.

Rictor didn't come into The New Mutants until much later anyway, so his absence in this film doesn't contradict anything established in the comics. The team in this film is focusing on the original New Mutants founding members.

Yeah, but these comic book movies never stay true to the roaster of the comics. Like X-Men: First Class doesn't really have the actual First Class team from the comics, so they could've added Rictor in The New Mutants if they wanted too. Besides, a character like Rictor makes more sense in today's world. Which is the whole point of The New Mutants.

Could u clarify the "whole point of The New Mutants."

And as far as the diversity spin, the New Mutants arent much more diverse than the team sent to rescue the Krakoa team.
Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Thunderbird.
Sunspot, Cannonball, Karma, Wolfsbane, and Psyche.

Exactly my my point. The New Mutants is suppose to represent what was relevant in the 80's. At that time it was the modern standards for Marvel. But things are different now. A character like Rictor is ahead of his time because he is a gay Mexican. A lot of young gays and Mexicans can relate to a character like Rictor in today's world.

Sunspot was the Latino of the group.
Empath on the Hellions was from Spain.

Chronicle was a very good movie though & Toby Kebbell (Doom) stated Trank had a different, much darker cut of the film that he said was great & that people would never get to see it. So going by that yes, id say it was Fox's fault.

I believe Trank had a different darker cut, but that doesn't mean it was good, regardless of the hearsay of one actor involved. Fantastic Four isn't a dark kind of franchise, and to try to make it so just makes it ridiculous.

It's more likely that Fox tried (futilely) to salvage what they could, and the original would have been even worse.

Yeah, but Brazilians and Spaniards aren't really Donald's main target.

Depends how you look at it. Cable was training his team to become X-Force. But the comics were still labeled as The New Mutants.

Rictor was in the X-terminators. They were being trained by X-factor, before they rejoined the X-men.

These characters would be spun off into their own title, Simonsons's X-Terminators, in 1988. Simonson would later transfer Rictor to the cast of The New Mutants, during her run on that series, when she made sweeping changes to the existing cast and folded several of the X-Terminators into the New Mutants

I was just thinking... I know jump-scares are a staple of almost every horror movie, and of course studios are going to use them to some degree to promote the film with their trailers, but now that I think about it... doesn't that kind of kill the suspense and effectiveness of the jump-scare moments when watching the film itself? I mean if it is the same exact scene that you've seen in the trailer, you're already aware when it's coming in the film.

For instance, how startling will the moment be when Cannonball approaches the dryer and Sunspot's hand smacks up against the glass door, if we've already seen it? Unless they do what Marvel has been doing lately and create alternate scenes for the trailers than what actually shows up in the film, there's going to be some things already spoiled.

It's the same with comedies. One of my old friends even once said that why are people laughing if they already saw this in the trailer? But whatever. As long as it is a good film and has enough surprises, then I'll be satisfied.

Yeah, I love horror movies, so to me it's never really about the scares, but more about the atmosphere, suspense and the story itself. I don't put too much thought into the jump-scares, but I know some people love them. I can overlook seeing something over and over again with less surprising affect each time, as long as I can still engage in and enjoy the overall film.

Good jump scares anyway. I hate the ones where it turns out to be something else. Like some person just walking up behind all quiet and shit. It's like he or she is doing it on purpose.
