Hello,
Well I have both the BDP-S350 and the BDP-BX1. Both still new in the box... Will someone please explain in detail for a novice the difference between the two, wich one I should keep? I understand that the BX1 is a Costco model number and that it comes with a HDMI cable and a backlit remote. But is there any other difference than that? The price difference was $10.00 between the two so it doesnt really matter cash wise, but obviously I would like the better machine. Thanks for your help guys... Dave. |

I already have a PS3 in my bedroom, with a Vizio 47 inch TV. The new Blueray player is for the living room. If the backlit remote works with the S350, I might have to accidently switch the two before I return the BX1. HHHmmmm.... Any thoughts? So my understanding is that the S350 is the better machine but the BX1 comes with the cable and the HDMI... correct?

I guess with the DDTHD onboard decoding you could say its the better player, but I personally would have to choose the one that costed less if your receiver can decode the audio anyways.
As was stated before, I would still rather have the Panasonic 35K, it is getting slightly better reviews cause of the better upscaling and PQ. But honestly, I can't imagine the PQ being so different it would be noticable. Upscaling, I could see there being a noticeable difference. I have a lot of DVDs so I wanted the better upscaling. But Sony does make great quality products, don't get me wrong. Last edited by callas01; 11-30-2008 at 06:50 PM. |

Oh well i have a S350 is it's working fabulously well... In canada price difference off 100$ wasn't worth it for Panasonic Canada Big Ego (don't need the decoding , have a receiver). They sell the AE3000 projector 3299$ in Canada and 2499.99$ in the US LOL! It,s the SAmE MACHINE!

Actually I had a raincheck from Kmart for Black Friday (they didn't even have any in stock for that day believe it or not) for the BDP-S350 priced at $179!, so I finally was called today (complained to Sears Holdings Co. about lack of stock - what a coincidence, huh?) to say they had the players in stock, so I get to the store and they bring out the BDP-BX1. I said "um.. this isn't what was advertised..." and they told me that all stores ran out and that they will now be stocking the BDX1 which is essentially the same save the onboard TrueHD decoding, but I think I can live with that for now... So if that is really the only difference that is fine with me - especially since not only did I get the raincheck price but to my surprise they took an additional in-store rebate of $30 to make it come out to $149! I think that is an even trade-off for not getting that onboard TrueHD decoding, but including the back-lit remote and HDMI cable as well, no?

The same exact thing happened to me at Kmart, but I didn’t get a rebate. I don’t know if the guy was confused on entering the rain check or if he didn’t know about the rebate. How did you get the rebate and was it only good for last week? I went there Saturday to get the player but it was locked in a cage in the stockroom and there was no key available until Monday to open it.

I'm tired of listening to people on this forum saying that the Panny BD35 is better machine than Sony S350.....Look: I had both the BD35 and S350 at the same time for about two weeks and to me their performance is pretty equal. I liked the upconvesrsion in the S350 better despite what some reviews says. I think it all comes down to personal taste.....during the time I had both machines, I encountered some problems on the BD35. It froze one time while I was watching The Butterfly Effect on SD DVD and it wouldn't resume playback on License to Drive SD DVD. They both played fine on the S350. Aso, the Panny runs very, very hot. Within 10 minutes of playback, the glass on my entertainment system was very hot I lifted the unit and touch it underneath and it was very, very hot. The Sony does not run hot.
I think both units are wonderful but I liked better the Sony. I think the Panny is a bit overhyped...... |

If you like audio then the Panny is better, but PQ between the both of them are the same it comes down to Audio Quality. I have the PS3 and that's the flagship for Sony Blu-ray players. The AQ isn't as good as the Panny. I hope you have a good subwoofer to understand that.

![]() ![]() ![]() On a serious note does anyone have a part # for the BDP-BX1 remote. My .02 would be to stick with the BDP-BX1 and sell the 350. Last edited by Entertainment72; 12-23-2008 at 04:08 PM. |

I have the 350 and so far it is a great br/dvd player.
I got it for $200 at BB on Black Friday on an unadvertised special...they had a dozen sitting on the floor with a hand made sign attached lol. No one was even looking at them lol. I would like to run the audio/video signal to my tv from the dvd through the receiver via hdmi but my receiver does not have hdmi. The sound is still quite good so until I bother to replace the receiver I am quite happy. |

Any flagship should have onboard decoding for all HD-Audio with 7.1 analog outs to say the least.
