Has anyone had issues with bluetooth? It won't recognize my Walkman.

Have you tried syncing them? Were you trying to listen to a movie through your Walkman or trying to listen to your Walkman through the player? Have you successfully synced other Bluetooth devices to the player like a keyboard, Bluetooth headphones or tried syncing it to other external Bluetooth speakers? Perhaps using your Walkman as the go between is the problem & you will need to get some regular Bluetooth headphones to sync to your player instead.

You don't sync bluetooth devices to coincide to each other, you have to pair them. There is difference. If you do not pair a bluetooth device, it won't work with anything.

It's just HDMI 1.4 so your current HDMI cable should work.

Get a new Certified Premium HDMI cable for the video signal. 18 gbs or higher. Monoprice can be bought from their website or Amazon. Under $10 AND Premium Certified. Wal-mart might have a Premium Certified cable for sale in their store if you have one local. Premium Certified cables have a tag and logo.
One more question:

When I use the 2 HDMI outputs (one for audio and one for video), will I use the hdmi input on the tv to watch blu-rays through the player, or will I have to turn on use the hdmi input my Samsung a/v receiver is connected to?

Because right now, the Samsung a/v receiver is hooked up to hdmi input 4 on the TV. When I want to watch Blu-rays through the sony Blu-ray player, I have to switch to HDMI 2 on the a/v receiver itself.

You will turn your tv to whatever input you have the player hooked up to and you will also turn your receiver to the input the AUDIO OUT cable from the player is hooked up to. But you will not turn your TV to input 4 because there's no video coming from your receiver since your are sending video directly to the TV and using the audio only through the receiver. .

Ok cool. My "function" or input options on my a/v receiver are:

Digital In
AUX
HDMI IN 1
HDMI IN 2
FM
Bluetooth.

So I would select Digital In for the audio, correct?

This is an incredible deal. This 2017 player list price was $299.99, and now its half the price. This player is the cheapest 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player on the market that plays SACD’s and DVD-Audio discs. Only the OPPO UDP-203 which is priced locked at $549 is a better player, and the OPPO UDP-203 does not offer any streaming (Sony offers true 4K Ultra HD streaming). This player connects to any display with a HDMI input, one does not need to own a 4K Ultra HD display to use this player.

Here is the link to the Sound and Vision magazine review on the Sony UBP-X800 (excellent review).
https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...-player-review
The Sony website is now showing a list price of $299.99 today instead of $149.99. Also on the Abit Electronics website and the B and H photo website, they claim this $149.99 sale price with free shipping ends on November 11th at 11:59PM eastern time. Does this mean the player is going back up to $299.99 on November 12th or will the player see the same sale renewed at $149.99 or lower, I really do not know.

Question. With HDR>SDR mode, is it knocking the signal down to 1080p on my 4K TV? When I hit display it said 1080p/24. Shouldn't I still get a 4K picture from the player?

Edit: I switched HDMI cables and it is in 4K now.

You having your backlight maxed in SDR mode isn't helping, any HDR will look dim to you probably. Now's the time to get used to real accuracy, set the player on "direct" and your TV on "movie."

Audio CoDecs (Coder/Decoder) seem to be advancing more rapidly than ever before. This necessitates more frequent upgrades to newer receivers. This problem is made worse when mixing products from different manufacturers. Mixing tends to get you into finger-pointing territory. Each manufacturer will blame the other for the problem which leaves you stuck in the middle. That's why I went all Sony. Plus I have always had good service from Sony products. I hope you can resolve your audio issues by modifying your settings, input, etc. You might try writing down all the settings for each component and then resetting them all back to Factory defaults. Then change each setting one at a time until you observe the problem. It's time-consuming, but cheaper than an upgrade.
Thank you for your reply. I don't think the Sony UBP X-800 UHD BD player we are discussing here is based on Android, more like Opera based. On my European version of this player I don't see any option to download new apps.
I will contact Sony Spain to see what they know about this 'though I'm afraid it won't be much.

Mine was supposed to deliver today, But Noooooooooo!

I don't know who I'm more disappointed with: Amazon, or USPS, or whoever was supposed to deliver it today. I have a good mind to just cancel it and go tomorrow to Best Buy and pick one up there for the same price.

Or tomorrow either then!
Amazon should have picked another carrier, if they were going to promise 11/11/17 delivery.

At midnight B and H Photo raised the price to $198 with free shipping. Possible soon other stores might raise the price around $50 also. It depends on how much inventory they have in stock, low stock equals higher prices.

Why would you have your backlight maxed out? Granted, I've not made the leap and bought a stand alone player, but I am a KS8000 owner and have mine set to Movie Mode presets with some minor tweaking when watching SD. With HD I let my KS do all of the heavy lifting. So give your eyes time to adjust to this and follow StingingVelvet's advice on settings on the Sony.

Quick question..

What settings need to be on when playing a DVD, BLU RAY, AND 4K?

Does auto 2 need to be turned off when playing a dvd or 4k?

Also ive seen some use AUTO or original resolution. Whats the best in yiur opinion?

Thanks again

What is best is probably debatable as many of these setting depend on your personal preferences but here is my take.

When referring to the screen settings I have most of them in the default mode with the exception -I think- of:

1) 4k upscale setting > Auto2 all the time. that causes regular BDs to be upscaled to 4k. I might have misunderstood the manual, I thought everything turns into 4k but DVD get upscaled to 1080.

2)Cinema conversion Mode >video. That is because I've found that on auto it causes some DVD to cause some a bad interlaced picture. I haven't tested enough to see if it spoils good sources but at first glance it didn't. If anybody can tell me of a particular problem to look for with this setting on all the time I'll do some further testing.

The output video resolution I have it in Auto which is fine for my usage as my tv is 4k but my projector is only 1080P
