Bought this for 32.99 at Target. Went through the self checkout line, came home and the security thing was still on it. Snipped it off and now it's like a mini car alarm going off.

Gonna hit it with a hammer next.

It didn't go off while getting out of Target?

So, your Target broke the street date too and you picked up the 4k version?

No. I forgot all about it until I got home. It took about three good whacks with the hammer to kill the noise.

I guess. I didn't know there was a street date for this.

Serves me right for having two threads open at once. I thought I was on the Stranger Things 4k disc thread. Oops.

Oh, and yes, Target is coming out with a 4k set. Surprise!

First season was really good... until the last episode.

Ugh.

The Nolans overhanded exposition strikes again.

Where is the strong disagree comment? I only got much of Westworld during the second watch and now I consider it some of the best Sci-Fi I have ever seen.

After reading the 4K review Im not sure it's worth the 4K price over the BD

So I checked out my copy today. I was shocked to discover that I much prefer the Blu-ray over the UHD. This hasn't happened to me in since Ghost in the Shell. The UHD version, while having much brighter whites, seems murky and desaturated - a bit more monochromatic by comparison.

The Blu-ray comes across much better for me - and unlike most Blu-ray's, does not look flat. Great color, good detail (where I didn't detect any improvement on the UHD) and nothing to nitpick.

It is an upgrade. People are just so used to the compromises that can happen in the mastering to compensate for the limited color gamut and dynamic range of regular Blu-ray.

Cars 3 looks less colorful on first glance, but does have more depth and has a natural look. You have to watch with different eyes with UHD discs.

And you do need a solid display that is carefully calibrated.

It has already dropped to $32.99. That's when I pounced. I'm not sure if it has jumped back up again.

Both of them represent the worst parts of the whole HDR thing. They both should be perma-banned at this point. As soon as you see their name show up in a thread, you know it's being derailed.

I just bought it for $32.99 on Amazon. Now I'll have return the $45.00 one I bought last week at Best Buy.

Basically unless it's really marked down (like this and Cabin in the Woods was for $7.99 for a short time), I really shouldn't be spending anything until BF hits.

Rocky is just being a DV fanboy, which is fairly harmless. His previous HDR10 set was so bad, that any OLED will make DV seem insanely better by comparison. So he likes to gush about it.

But Heat's posts are relentless and over the top. I think it's beyond being a HDR10+ fanboy, he posts like he's getting paid to promote it. I don't mind his points of view, it's the relentlessness of it and his trolling nature that bugs me.
