Holy Canoli. Just saw this was a thing. I don’t even have a 4K set up (yet) & I’m very excited to see this.

Welp, there aren't any copies in the LA area (so says brickseek.)

But hey, there's already a GB for this over at HDN using rpvee's famous thumb image!

Unfortunately I am not. I do plan on getting a 4k tv and player before the years end. I can check to see if bd player on my pc can at least read the files to see if I can get some info after work on what type encodes it has.

Strange that their cash registers allow the 4K to be sold ahead of the street date. Usually they don't allow it.

How ironic is it that us two who managed to get this thing early don’t have the technological means to fully enjoy it?

Those two members’ shipments I sent the other night should be arriving today (Tuesday). So we’ll all finally know how good this release is verrrry soon!!

Can't wait to hear how good the transfer is, and to be able to get me a copy, once it's released to the rest of us.

Did it even show up on their website? Last time I checked it didn't. Might want to check back closer to release day.

Sorry for the delay, friends! It was a long work night. As promised, here are much clearer pictures of this release, decidedly not taken outside in the cold on an NYC sidewalk.

Feel free to share these, including on the database. All I ask - and this especially goes for people from other sites who are lurking - is that you credit me, and Blu-Ray.com. These have been a wild past couple days, and myself and others here have put in a lot of effort to get word out about this release and find out more about it. It's only fair that that is respected! I've seen my original pics, taken while walking 6.5 miles around midtown between three trips to Target and a Fedex in 30-something degree weather, shared on other sites and Instagram pages without any thought as to where they came from. Not cool!

Anyway - to the main point of this post...

First, the main sleeve, which has been made to look like it's old and was bought at a yard sale (just like how the original Blu-Ray release was designed). The worn look is done well, right down to scotch tape printed on the top right corner, haha! Note - I've found it difficult to get the main VHS case out of the sleeve unless I open the top, as pictured:

[Show spoiler]

Next up: the VHS case! There are some fun little details on this one, as well. Always remember to rewind your 4K Blu's, folks!

[Show spoiler]

Last, but not least: the inside of the VHS case, including the discs themselves and the poster. The poster is indeed for Season 2, which I believe is a different poster than the one included with the standard Blu-Ray set. Also, if I have one complaint about this otherwise awesome packaging, it's the darn foam disc hubs. It's really difficult to get a disc fully back on a knob once it's off, and I still haven't managed to fully get the pictured disc back on like how it was when I first opened the set.

[Show spoiler]

I hope that these are clear and helpful!

It's a crying shame that there are zero extras for either format. I just finished watching season 1 and I was looking forward to seeing some great extras (interviews, behind-the-scenes, deleted scenes).

And they should be ashamed of forcing a 5-minute preview of season 2 that can't be skipped every time the disc loads. A baffling move considering that many people will be watching it for the first time and don't want spoilers for season 2 before they even watch season 1.

Are they going to add a web site listing by release date, or do we have to scour the local stores and hope our store gets it?

And shame on them for not releasing this in time for Black Friday. Despicable, and a double kick-in-the-head to those who have already bought the blu-ray, as well as those that haven't yet and would like to buy it as a Christmas gift. At least they could have released it in time for Black Friday so that it could go on sale and give those who already bought the blu-ray a break.

Not that it's a big deal, but in that 4K set, all of the discs (4K and regular blu-ray) have the Netflix logo and all other text aligned the same way. On the existing set, on the DVD discs, the Netflix logo is upside-down. It's too bad that detail didn't carry over in some capacity to the 4K set.

This is something i did not understand. I had to live the room and mute my system. I could not belive what hell was happening. I had not seen the series. Worst spoiler ever.
And now i have get the 4K UHD just week after i imported the bluray at high cost.

Not to make a big new post in this thread over and over again, but in addition to the new pictures I posted on the previous page...

One of the NYC members I bought one of the three remaining copies for has declined theirs. That means I have at least one extra copy of this release weeks early. I’m still waiting to hear from the third NYC member. The second has claimed his copy.

So, the question is: how do I go about choosing a lucky member to get this extra copy? When I first posted about this release on Sunday, my inbox here was flooded with members asking me to get them a copy, and some even offered extra money as incentive. I’m not interested in that.

We’re all nerds here with the same hobby and passion for collecting, and too often in our field of interest, financial stability plays a role in one’s ability to build their collection further (ebay can be a prime example of this). So, I want this to be fair for everybody for once. All I’d ask is to reimbursed for the set at cost, plus shipping. Goodness knows that if the tables were turned, I wouldn’t be able to bribe someone with extra money to try to convince them to sell a rare whatever to me.

How should I go about this? Collect the usernames of everyone interested and do a random drawing? I’m open to ideas, though of course, I’d like to do this soon, since the whole point is getting this to whoever ends up with it well before the street date.

Looking forward to opinions,

Brian

This is one ugly set. I can appreciate the 80's VHS theme, but I wouldn't want this on my shelf.

Subjective of course.
