Thats it. With the cold weather and rain, the coils iced up and tripped the breaker. Once the breaker was flipped, it fixed itself.

Soap and water. Nothing that will corrode the coils. Make sure you don't bend the fins either.

Just hose the frozen coils down with water to remove all of the ice. If the freezing rain continues, just keep an eye on them and de-ice when needed again. I had this happen to a heat-pump we had years ago in our first Richmond home. I hate heat pumps. They suck when the temperature drops below ~25 degrees, or so.

is it constantly sending cold air or not? what can happen is that if it is cold enough the fan in the furnace can start circulating the air before the heat starts, so it is circulating the cold air (which feels cooler) like others have also said that sometimes the heat pump can need to go in reverse for a few minutes.
