I know it's all post-production work all done in the suite. But some people mentioned they did hear the IMAX cameras on Interstellar.

Nolan fixed that problem using 65mm on, yes.
Christopher Nolan likes to use dialogue recorded on set rather than doing ADR. So if they said they've heard the IMAX cameras, it's probably during dialogue scenes.

You'd probably not hear much from Dunkirk since there's so little dialogue anyway.

You know that sound mixes aren't done on location, right? That everything aside from the dialogue (for which scenes he used the soundproofed 5-perf cameras anyway) is basically re-recorded and remixed from scratch on a dubbing stage? You may well be joking but I had someone else on another forum start talking about how they "didn't record on the set for Atmos only 5.1" so I just wanna be sure...
I think his IMAX mixes are where the dialogue problems really come in. With Inception in 15/70, I found the dialogue to be drowned out by the score or sound effects plenty of times, and on the Blu I found the mix significantly clearer.

Then with Interstellar, I saw it first in 70mm and there were a few lines I couldn't make out, but nothing major. And certainly glad I saw that first, cause in IMAX Digital two weeks later, large portions of dialogue where problematic and there were crucial scenes I wouldn't have understood (such as Michael Caine's big one) otherwise.

Like Interstellar, I saw Dunkirk and Rises twice in theaters, once in IMAX and once not, and there I didn't notice any major mix problems either way (again, a few lines I couldn't make out, the Rises IMAX prologue though was a complete mess).

You're not far off actually. I don't what an IMAX sounds like but in some loud moments in Interstellar, you can hear a slight flicker which blends very well with the sound effects. I don't think he purposely mixes loud to mask the loudness but it helps.

But isn't the trick to "loud" is a dynamic mix? I actually tried to analyze both Interstellar's and Inception's mixes to understand the difference which is very noticeable. I can play Inception and hear the dialogue clearly without having to crank the volume so high while in Interstellar, I have to raise the volume to a higher level to hear the dialogue clearly but then the loud moments become extremely loud.
But I couldn't really notice the difference with the waveforms.

Interstellar:

You can have dynamics and loudness, but it doesn't have to be dynamic to just be loud.

In any case, in the previous post I'm just paraphrasing what his boom operator on Dunkirk said, unfortunately he's deleted his posts otherwise I'd link to them...

They'd be drowned by the noises the IMAX cameras make.

Interesting note: Academy screeners for Dunkirk are being sent out in 4K for those members who signed up for the format (deadline was October 31). What's also interesting is that The Dark Knight was the first Academy screener to go out on Blu-ray (to those members who had the capability) back in 2008. Requirements are also that this 4K screener is not the same disc pressing that will go retail in December.

While the Wal-Mart exclusive of Revenge of the Fallen was available as a DVD, I believe this might be the first wide DVD release to include IMAX exclusive switching aspect ratios.

Interesting that it lists 1:78 second. If I recall from my (real) IMAX screening almost all of it was in IMAX format (quick search suggests ~75%). Hopefully the scene formatting stays the same as it was in the theaters (with the IMAX scenes being cropped to 1:78 of course).

Of course it will. Don't worry about what order the ratios are listed in.

Bill Hunt said this was a jaw dropping disc. But this also came as he spelled Nolan's first name as "Christipher" and misspelled attendance.
