I didn't know velociraptors were known for decapitating their victims.

I think no one was expecting a substantial supporting turn, but it's nice to have confirmation anyway.

No, no!...before being stabbed through his chest and thrown off a narrow bridge, into the dark abyss of cinema history.

Exactly as expected. I guess he's only doing a reading or so, but is not a part of the adventure itself. I'm OK with that.

It makes sense for Malcolm not to be too involved in what's going on, especially not the actual interacting-with-and-running-from-dinosaurs part of the story. Not only is he in his mid-60s now, I don't think there's anything that would make him go near the dinosaurs again (aside from once again having to save a girlfriend/wife or child, but I'm pretty sure Sarah and Kelly had their fill too!) after having been through that twice already.

Even a smaller part can be satisfying though, and I'm looking forward to seeing him again.

He was there in almost the entire movie. Of course he'd steal the show. But in JW2, he'll only be there for one scene, most likely. So, his impact will be much, much less. I think they only included him as a nod to the fans, rather than genuinely wanting him to be a key figure in the story. Goldblum is doing a lot of films and an actor of his calibre deserved a bigger role.

The best actor in Jurassic World was Irrfan Khan and they killed him off pretty fast. I'd have loved if he got a sombre and memorable death scene; on a hospital bed and making Claire promise to save the animals from being exploited. In any case, he chewed every scene he was in. Khan also has a very similar quirky and lively attitude like Goldblum. Both have a natural style of acting and it seems they are always doing improvisations rather than reading lines off the script.

Having said all that, JW2 isn't out. So, it's best for me to not judge it yet.

Incredible Goonies homage in Jurassic Park

Quote:
Jurassic Park is unquestionably one of his most beloved directorial achievements and Dennis Nedry, the man responsible for the park's disaster, is one of his more interesting supporting characters. Now, a new fan theory points out that, quite possibly, Dennis Nedry was paying homage to The Goonies in Jurassic Park.

This theory comes to us from Twitter user Shawn Robare. He took a look at the various outfits that Dennis Nedry, played by Wayne Knight, wears throughout the movie. It turns out that they just so happen to line up pretty remarkably with several members of The Goonies, which just so happens to be a movie that Steven Spielberg produces. Here's what Robare had to say about it when he made his discovery.

When we first meet Dennis Nedry, he's sporting a Hawaiian shirt that, when looking at it side by side, closely resembles what Chunk (Jeff Cohen) is wearing in The Goonies. Later on, we see Nedry wearing a grey jacket before heading off to steal the dinosaur embryos he needs to get paid. This very closely resembles the Member's Only jacket Mouth (Corey Feldman) wears in the movie. Lastly, after Nedry has the embryos in the famed Barbasol can, he's seen sporting a yellow raincoat. Again, looking at it side by side, this shares an uncanny resemblance to what Mikey (Sean Astin) wears in Goonies.

This has to be one of the coolest easter eggs in a movie. I never made the connection.

So cool, if intentional
I have my doubts

Yeah, I highly doubt it was intentional, and therefore not an Easter egg, but fun nonetheless.

Dolby updated their upcoming Atmos/Vision releases and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be avaliable in both!

A decent upgrade from the last movie which did not even have Atmos. Hopefully the DCP will be 4K as well.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Will Be Attached to ‘The Last Jedi’

Quote:
The Rian Johnson-directed Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be arriving in theaters on December 15, and we’ve learned that the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a continuation of another long-running, hugely successful franchise, will be arriving alongside it.

Via Jurassic Outpost today, the trailer *could* arrive online any time after December 1, but we’ve got a feeling it won’t be seen until The Last Jedi is released.
