Default Planet Terror/Death Proof

I got both of these for 20 dollars with a buy one get one free today. So far i only watched Planet terror (and they do have the fake trailors) and it was awesome. One thing i noticed tho is the back of the BD case says they are filmed in a different aspect ratio than they actually are. The aspect ratio is 16x9 and on the back it says 2.40.1. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this, or if the states have different packaging.

hmmmm maybe....I thought more came after the credits like, in theatres (from what i heard) the movie had more trailors after Planet Terror finished so i thought it might be after the credits but i didn't watch that far. I didn't know machete was always there.

Do that. I don't think they're there, but if they are I'm importing.

The Canadian & US discs should be exactly the same extras/film-wise. The fake trailers (other than Machete) are not present. See Canadian Blu review at http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...net_terror.htm. The upcoming Grindhouse release in Germany (a steelbook) will contain the full length film with trailers.

16X9 and 2.40:1 are both widescreen. So essentially they are the same thing. 2.35:1 and 1.85:1 are also widescreen and 16X9. The only ones that are not 16X9 are 1.33:1 and 1:66:1 which are full screen 4X3. I am not really sure what you mean by saying they are different.

sorry, the back of the box says 2.35.1 but with that aspect ratio there are black bars (are there not?) but when i played the movie it played in full screen.

so the final verdict? No fake trailers? Except Machete? That's lame! Don't think i'll be double dipping these films, as much as I would love to.

If that's the case, here's hoping it's region free!

IMDB lists Planet Terror's AR as 1.85:1 and Death Proof's as 2.35:1---I'd guess it's a packaging misprint.

16 divided by 9=1.777777 etc.
4 divided by 3=1.33333 etc.

So 1.78:1 is the widescreen AR which is "fullscreen" on a 16:9 display; 1.33:1 is fullscreen 4:3. 1.66:1 is wider than 4:3 but not as proportionately wide as 16:9; it should be slightly pillarboxed on a 16:9 display. 1.85:1 is proportionately wider than 16:9 and should be slightly letterboxed on such a display. (I say "should"---depends on your display's overscan.) 2.35:1 and 2.40:1 are considerably wider in proportion than 16:9 and will be letterboxed.

Much more on this sticky.

Well..I think the clerk may have only entered one movie in, i looked at her screen and it showed only one movie in the scanner. I kept quiet because i didn't remember seeing a BOGO sign. lol...so i am not 100% sure if there is a BOGO or if i just got a nice christmas present from Future Shop.
