This looks great in 3D, the 3D is so strong and the director really knows how to make great use of it. I think 3D sells the slightly wonky CG a lot better too.

I just assumed that the budget wasn't too large (or as large as other cgi films).

And as soon as we turned off the Blu-ray, and switched the TV input to "Cable Box", HBO or Starz was on and just happened to be playing some similar type fantasy/monster/creature film (something I never saw) and the creatures and motion (all the cgi) looked soooo much better!
Budget was $150 million. I, too, wasn't too impressed with film when I saw it in theater. The fact that the reviews of the disc's PQ and SQ are so good I may buy this later when price drops.

Is the U.K. Version region free? Thinking about importing the 3D release as we'll, but need region free.

I ordered the German version which is supposed to be Region-free but it's not printed on the packaging or disc. Four different sources reported it is Region-free. However, several sources claim the Australian version as Region B Locked although it's not visible in the packaging. If you need Region A import the Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thai or Korean versions from YesAsia! Or eBay. I'll confirm my copy once it is in hand.

Since this is a Universal Studios release, most likely it is region ABC.

Finally watched this tonight it was decent. Not sure what kind of accent Damon was trying to pull off though.

An American one. He didn't seem to be attempting any other accent. Just a 'noble' American.

The 4K HDR really shows off the colors in this film and while it's basically a monster/myth story, I did kinda find it a bit distasteful in that there is a massive Chinese army with divisions, specialties, talents etc but it's the two renegade American thieves that save the day. Um... no.

America didn't even exist when this movie supposedly takes place so I don't think anyone was supposed to be American or have an American accent lol

If that's what Damon was going for then he needs a new dialect coach...

Yeah, I am not exactly sure where he was supposed to be from. Tovar was obviously from Spain, but William's origin is never really even hinted at.

True but a lot of historical or fantasy movies have American actors retain their native accents. Usually the more shlocky ones lol.

Like Costner in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I still cringe at that even though the rest of the film is great.

It's region-free. 3D discs from India and Australia (C and B) both work fine.

Also 47 Ronin and Keanu just doing his own American accent. 47 Ronin and The Great Wall are an awesome double bill.

True enough, my oversight there but you get my point about two derelicts saving the day for a massive army...

Picked up this for $5. This and Spirited Away have been my only purchases so far.
