I'm a Canadian and I have to tell you that I purposely buy some titles in the US because I don't like the bilingual covers if the French is too prominent. Most titles, as mentioned, has the French slightly below the main title or a "French version included" in brackets to let you know the cover is reversible, which satisfies both sides without being too in-your-face. But when it's 50/50 English and French or (much worse...) when the cover is reminiscent of a movie poster and the French just barges in like an obnoxious drunk cousin at your wedding reception, I'll go out of my way to get the US version.

And if your main concern is continuity, The fact that the bilingual rule isn't consistent across studios nor is it consistent across titles from the SAME studio, you can see how it can really irk some people. For instance, I have all 3 of the LoTR Extended Editions on DVD, and 2 out of the 3 only have English in the packaging. Luckily, the 3rd one has the French just in the booklet, not the cover itself... but why the switch? Who knows! Either way, just do your research so you can gauge yourself what's acceptable for your standard of French intake.

vive le bleu-ray!
