As for movies becoming purely "entertainment," I couldn't disagree with anyone more. If films were purely entertaining we would missing out on some of the greatest films of all time and instead be fed a constant drivel of mindless sensationalism, kinda like pop music. I appreciate a film like Wall-E because it takes its artform seriously and realizes that it can be a vehicle for change and a place where ideas can be expressed.

The color green, humans as big fat blobs, and Fred Willard pulling a Bush, that kind of change?

Is Wall*E's appeal emotional, rather than thought? That was my question.

Also: I don't think Wall*E should be embraced as "gospel" without analysis, don't you?
