People firt off it's a great movie not what I expeced but still good. But other then that is just got put in theaters. Why are we talking about the BD of it already.

Probably because everyone is not expecting it to remain in theaters for a very long time and go to BD rather quickly

I thought the movie was a 3 out of 5 stars. I did not hate it and I did not love it. It was just OK. It had a weird ending that left me dissatisfied. I will Netflix the movie when it is released on BD just to determine if my opinion changes from watching it in the theater.

The only truly terrible part about it was Jaden Smith. Man, that kid was annoying.

Everything else was fine. It definitely wasn't close in quality to the original, but (aside from Jaden Smith) was an alright movie.

I have to wonder though where was the President supposed to be. If the world was going to end in like a day why couldn't the guy get off his ass, come to DC and makes some of his own decisions on the situation? Instead he leaves it all to Kathy Bates who thinks she can deal with the global alien invasion all by her own (and not involve any other countries or outside opinions).

You people don't understand do you. It wasn't designed to be an action movie, not by a long shot. ANd personallity, it wasn't a dramatic movie. Klaatu, had it easy, he was a freakin alien. Come on people didn't you watch the movie.

Oh I watched it. All I can say is the FORMULA was wrong...sorry, it was and because of this the movie is a dud IMO.

I have seen the original many times over the years. I have it on VHS. The movie was made a few years before I was born - in an era when mankind was dropping atomic bombs all over the place. The original plot was that the alien was here to warn us that if we start taking our craziness off planet, the whole planet would be destroyed. The idea was that the robots were like doomsday machines - at any sign of violence, they would come in and quash the event. With that fear, and the certainty that others felt it too, war was discouraged and thus stopped.

This new movie starts with the same premise but then goes into the politically correct garbage about how mankind is ruining the earth and it is mankind that will be destroyed to save the earth.

For all it was worth, the earth didn't even stand still. It was a decent movie for what it was, but it is only the day the movie industry stood still.

To me it is just a bunch of crap like the day after tomorrow.

Just for comparison, I have been watching the Omega Man for many years and liked Legend. Both endings. The story was updated but stayed faithful to the original. When you make a new story, make a new title.

One more thing. I am getting old and set in my ways. I had my opinion of the movie after the first half hour. I kept that opinion even after reading these comments.

I was asked for my opinion by three people waiting in the lobby when I came out. I spouted off and told them that I didn't like the changes but it was a good movie anyway. They looked high school or college age and I realized how old I am getting because they had no idea that this was not the original movie. Of course, this is an original movie with a stolen but familiar name.

what? i thought that kid was amazing...to be critical of a CHILD like this really shows somehting about you...i didn't know it was will smith's kid going into the movie, but i thought the kid did a great job and i came onto this site to see who he was...turns out it's will smith's kid, and now i know why he did a great job in the movie. sounds like someone is anti-will smith to me....a shame. that is the only reason someone could so roundly harsh on a child, when children, even the best, are not great actors

It's a terrible movie. The original had a message and a damn good one. The only message this movie showed me was "We want your $$$$".

There was no heart or compassion or reflection upon ourselves as mankind. Sorry, but over the top special effects and terrible acting on all accounts won't pull me in for a second viewing let alone a purchase. That right is reserved to Michael Bay
