No matter what the stated details are, you have no sympathy for a man who is shot, in front of his family, over a movie ticket?

Pulling a weapon and firing it is the definition of deadly force. If there is no intent to kill, the firearm is not used.

This homicidal maniac fired a pistol in a theater. There is every chance that he will miss, and hit someone other than his intended target. I suppose you would not charge him with manslaughter if his bullet hit a child a couple of rows down, in the head.

After all, even though he brought a weapon to a family movie, and drew and fired it over an $8 movie ticket, he didn't intend to kill anyone, right?

This wannabe movie-chatter vigilante needs significant time in prison.

Well, with everyone else either stampeded out of there, or very quietly low-crawling for the exit, I imagine you're correct.

Well, maybe you should bring a gun to your local theater, and fire a couple of warning shots into the ceiling during the pre-movie trailers. You know, give a little speech, make sure everyone is good and terrified.

No need to let somebody else have all the fun scaring people, now is there? Why do you want someone else to do the job for you?

And the fact that he was only shot in the shoulder clearly shows no intent to kill.[/QUOTE]

Sorry, but that's just not true. Every firearm safety class I have ever taken says the ONLY time to fire a gun is with intent to kill. There are arteries that run through the shoulder that if hit by a bullet could cause someone to quickly bleed to death. Also, bullets occasionally ricochet off bones and end up in other parts of the body where they can do even more damage if the bullet goes into a lung, the heart, or any of the great vessels. Just my .02

Sorry GORT, but it is true. Are you trying to say that the Police don't fire with intent to kill, or that the Police don't have more frequent, advanced and different training than some putz pulling a gun in a movie theater?

Ive been annoyed by talking people in theaters, crying babies, idiots screaming at the screen, cell phones, and my favorite people opening up the exit door right next to the screen and letting that bright day light in during the movie, I just love it.

I wouldnt use anything lethal like this man did but a roundhouse kick to those suckers would be a more proper punishment.

Police are only supposed to fire when their lives or the lives of innocent people are in danger. As for intent to kill, the police are supposed to fire to subdue the suspect. Where the bullet hits the suspect depends on timing and the urgency for the officer to shoot. Whether or not the subject dies is really irrelevant. As Drago said in Rocky IV, "If he dies, he dies".

Yeah, and we are supposed to be civilized, massacres aren't supposed to happen, children all over the world are supposed to have food and be happy, world peace is supposed to have happened a long time ago ...

We can see that between what is supposed to be and what actually is, there is a universe-wide gap.

As for what Drago said in the movie Rocky, that kind of statement has its place in movies, but to use it in the real world is both shocking and sad.

My point exactly, although it doesn't have much to do with the putz in the theater.

Default My personal 2cents list:

1) I saw the shooter's photo & he looks like a ticking time bomb to me.
2) Gun owners like him give the cause to carry a gun a bad name. Your suppose to use it in case the other person pulls out a gun/stabbing/blunt object with intent to harm.
3) What happened to the golden rule? Just because they're strangers.
4) Why managers exist? Use them.
5) take it outside at least, even if the shooting still occurred, everyone can enjoy the movie.
6) The person that got shot seems like an snotty eliteist with no common courtesy, why do people like you exist? It's not that hard to follow the rules inside a theater.
7) I want 09' summer blockbusters now.
8) I wish everyone a better new year & don't be killing us strangers who didn't cause you your misery. Do't blame me.

The real lesson here is that when you act like a dick and think you can get away with it, someone will show you that they're a bigger dick and will make you pay.

I love guns. I hate people talking in the theater. What BOTH these guys did was wrong, but the shooter WAY over reacted and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
