Yeah, this is where I am too.

Normally this would have been a day one pre-order for me. It's not going to sell out anytime soon, and it would be nice to make an informed purchase.
If it's sound, I'll pay the full price. If it has issues, I'll wait for a sale.

I'm eager to see it, but not eager to overpay if it doesn't merit it.

When I saw Wuthering Heights, my eyes lit up. Unfortunately, it's not the 1939 William Wyler version. I'm still game for the 1970 version when TT does a sale, but I cannot believe how one of 1939's greatest films has not yet seen a blu-ray release. Cinema's greatest year is not represented as thoroughly as it should be. Gunga Din, Wuthering Heights and Destry Rides Again all need blu-ray releases off the top of my head. Thankfully, Young Mr. Lincoln has now been knocked off the list courtesy of Criterion.

If TT got a hold of the '39 version, I'd grab both of them immediately.

It's like when I saw BFI releasing Gaslight. I nearly fell out of my chair. But it was the 1940 version. Too many films with the same name.

I would love to see blus of the 1939 films you mentioned. In addition, I'd jump right on the 1939 version of Of Mice and Men. Oh, and Golden Boy! So many great films.

There's another release, coming in three weeks, from KLSC.

I finally watched The Twilight Samurai. I really enjoyed it, but of course, I had to make drastic changes to my picture settings, turning the brightness all the way down and contrast all the way up, but once I did, it looked fine.

Just too many Woody Allen films I’ve never seen, I’m ashamed to say, including this one. I need to rectify that.

It's one of his best. Definitely pick up this BD. Easily in my top 10 Allen films.

Forgot about Of Mice and Men. That’s another that needs a release. I don’t recall seeing Golden Boy, so I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for it on TCM.

I’d die if somebody released 1936’s Libeled Lady . Warner Archive has only released it on DVD, so I’m hopeful that will be coming soon. Maybe TT could get distribution rights for the 3,000 copies. One of my favorite screwball comedies. Jean Harlow is incredible in it!!

I bought The Long Goodbye (and loved it!) in large part on your glowing recommendation, so I trust ya, mja. I’ll look to up my Allen collection, this one included, next time I place an order through TT or SA.

Golden Boy was on TCM just a week or two ago.

I'd like a Harlow boxset.

It's in the wrong color space. If your player lets you change the color space to RGB, that's the better way to fix the issue. It might not though, depends on the player model.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Color Space? I've never heard the term before.

Actually any Harlow would be great. She is woefully underrepresented on blu. In addition to Libeled Lady, I’d also love to see Red Dust, Dinner at Eight and Wife vs Secretary.

Of course, those are all controlled by Warner, so this is probably the wrong thread for wishing for them.

Yes, a Harlow boxset from Warners of everything she did at MGM. But, I feel the memory of Harlow is fading. She's such a creature of the 1930s that it's hard for younger people to relate, I think.

It's good to see Jean Harlow mentioned here, or anywhere. I've often wondered why she is so neglected on blu-ray. It does seem like most people aren't familiar with her at all, which is a shame. I would love to see all of the titles you guys mentioned on blu, and I'd add China Seas. She may be a creature of the 1930s but she certainly has timeless appeal.

Wonder if Disney buying Fox will have an effect on Twilight Time since they put out a lot of Fox stuff?

No. Disney interested in the Fox library for digital and the new streaming service they have in the works. If anything, I think this will effect the long term relationship Fox has had with HBO.

Couldn't making movies exclusive to their streaming service be an incentive to stop licensing them to boutique blu-ray labels?
