Whether or not that was Nolan's intent, and it seems that is what it was, my perspective is that the film ultimately suffered for it. It was like watching a cold exercise in technical wizardry devoid of any true human contact. Still, I will get Dunkirk as I believe the film deserves another look to see if my initial feeling toward this film was off point in any way.

Also on the Nolan front, I am definitely in for Inception 4K; one of my favorite films of all time. Still thinking about whether to upgrade The Batman Trilogy to 4K.
Maybe because the director didn't want this to be just another overly patriotic film but just put it up on the plate for what it was, letting the viewer make what they want of it?

It is odd that a reviewer would use a panel which lacks WCG and compare it to the BD. But Michael did say in the review the projector he screened the disc has poor HDR.

I trust some of you guys before I trust some of the pro reviewers. As a matter of fact, I don't even seek out professional reviewers. I come here to get all the information I need to make a decision on what to buy. There's this one guy I trust more than anyone. His name is Geoff D. Some of you might have heard about him and read some of his reviews. There's plenty of knowledgeable people on this forum. I'm thankful for that.

The fact that the movie is based on something that actually happened is enough of an emotional attachment for me.

Thanks but remember we're all fallible, I'm bound to come unstuck at some point. But until then maybe I should start a fundraising drive like poor old brasstax has done?

Just finished watching this for the first time and I thought it was a very good film. I read that this was shot in 70mm like the Hateful Eight and The Master, and it shows. IMAX,70mm, it's a stunning, reference quality transfer. Obviously, the color pallate is muted, but this proves you don't always needs cornia scorching HDR for it to be great HDR. Very happy with this disc.

Default Can’t wait to watch this film again.

Wife and I really enjoyed it although the theater we went to simply didn’t to it justice. My audio receiver will indeed be given a workout for sure...

I have a cheap LG soundbar that I bought two years ago and this movie sounded great. Can't even imagine how good it will sound with a proper setup.

Review is up.

It basically amounts to “It’s not Saving Private Ryan, so hrmph”.

In all seriousness, it’s A-OK if he didn’t think too highly of it but you can’t go into a film with pre-conceptions already in your mind about how the film should be when the filmmaker has other ideas. If it was more “I get what he was doing but it don’t work for me”, sure, but it didn’t seem like that’s the case here.
