Watched it last night and it was great. Audio was incredible, especially when the planes were dive bombing. I have a 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos/DTS:X setup and chose to watch Dunkirk in 5.1 original audio, no upmixing to height speakers. I will do the same for the rest of my Nolan movies.

I am experiencing problems with my disc as well (Nordic release, same as UK/Europe).

The image breaks up in rainbow colored digital noise at randoms points. If I go back and play the same passage it looks fine - but it happens again in other scenes. Looks like a hand shake issue, but could also be a faulty disc. There are no scratches on the disc.

Everything is so natural.

The HDR is complimentary and non-overbearing. It really flexes its muscle in scenic shots in which the sun rays mix with the clouds and reflections of the ocean.

I'm watching this film back to back, that's how ungodly gorgeous this film's transfer is!
That looks incredible. Didn't get a chance to watch my copy last night. What timestamp is that and what display are you watching this on?

This gets a 5 in PQ and the earlier prores trailer looks so much better with natural colors and more detail in the sand. Seems Nolan love some DNR/colortweak in his "final" vision

But as a 4K UHD review compared to others it is correct and true!

Default Audio Cutting Out

I'm having issues with the audio cutting out during loud explosions too. It happens multiple times throughout the movie. I already exchanged my copy for a new one and it does the same thing at the exact same times. I've changed HDMI cables, inputs, I've tried the SDR copy and the UHD copy and both cut out at the same points using the Sony UBP-X800. When I use the SDR copy in different Blu-Ray players it works fine with no audio cuts. My Sony UBP-X800 is updated, I even factory reset it, I have no other problems with any other movie in it. I find this extremely odd. The weirdest part is when an explosion occurs, the audio cuts out for a moment, maybe a second, then comes back. If I rewind it to any point in the middle of where the sound has cut out there is audio, but anything before the explosion makes it cut out. Anyone else having this issue or have a fix?

Watched my copy last night. Absolutely stunning visually. The audio was amazing as well. It had me on the edge of my seat majority of the time. I plan to watch it again later today. I don't have many 4k titles, but to me this is the best looking 4k title I have to date.

My UPS surge protector registered faults while watching this movie 10 dbs under reference. I've never had this happen with another movie and now seeing other folks having issues with audio has me wondering. It started with the explosions on the beach and the dive bombing of the German aircraft. I ended up lowering the volume to continue watching it as it kept knocking out my entire system.

I'm going to try and redistribute some of components that are running off it to see if it changes things this weekend.

This is probably nothing but for the folks experiencing problems with the 4K, particularly if you are finding scratches, did you have the disc sent to you or did you go to a brick and mortar store to purchase it. I am only asking because it appears that some on this thread are having no issues when watching the film. Just looking to see if there is a connection between those having a problem and those that are not. Or is this a completely random situation.

It truly is spectacular. I'm baffled by the fact that I actually saw one or two people claim that they preferred the picture quality of TDK over Dunkirk. Absolutely baffled.

But yes, this may very well be the best looking film on the format. In addition to everything you said, the amount of sheer detail is mind blowing.

I'm using the Sony UBP-X800 also. i'll try to rewatch today but instead of HDMI ARC i'll use optical cable on my soundbar.

You might want to try adding the DTS Neural:X upmixer to the native DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack and see how it sounds that way compared to the way you watched it the first time. I preferred the sound delivered using the Neural:X DSU to how the 5.1 sounded by itself. Would be interested to learn what you think.

Applying Neural X to soundtrack is like changing picture mode to Vivid to get more 'pop' despite not being what director intended it to look like

Mother! Dunkirk is a virtual tour-de-force of high caliber splendidly visually and auditory. It's like being engulfed with all the beauty and desperation.

The film is another Nolan's milestone. It rises above film conformity and conventional written laws.

I love the smooth switching between wide and high aspects. ...Make best use of each life's various panoramas from the guy behind the cameraman behind the camera lens.

The audio design is pure magic. It defies restraint and hypertension from overexposed steel bars of a prison jail cell.

What we see, what we hear is what there is; raw, in the veins and brain, on the screen, blowing the walls of man-made frontiers between marmalade and raspberry jelly.

If we take a movie scalpel and proceed with an autopsy, so that we can later on have a good meal @ the table, we would be cutting through our own jubilation.

Dunkirk could very well be the film of things to come. ...One of them definitely.

Meh, isn't that what theaters would do anyways? It's not like they're running true 5.1

just rented this on fandangonow in UHD for 5.99. SDR 4K. Looks gorgeous. The movie itself on the other hand, yikes. Its like christopher nolan knew it was a borefest, so he deliberately made it non-linear to spice it up. Leave it up to nolan to bore me with a war movie, mama mia!
