Default Lords of Dogtown (2005) (Unrated Extended Edition)

Lords of Dogtown (Unrated Extended Edition) will finally be released in the US by Mill Creek in March.

Quote:
LORDS OF DOGTOWN tells the radical true story of three teenagers from California who took skateboarding to the extreme and changed the sports world forever. Stacy Peralta (John Robinson), Tony Alva (Victor Rasuk) and Jay Adams (Emile Hirsch, Into the Wild) are the Z-Boys, a bunch of nobodies until they join board designer Skip Engblom (Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight) to create a new style of skateboarding that becomes a worldwide phenomenon. But when their hobby becomes a business, the success shreds their friendship.

Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen, Twilight) and featuring an all-star cast including Michael Angarano, Nikki Reed, Rebecca De Mornay, Johnny Knoxville, America Ferrera, and Mitch Hedberg.

Already have the UK release, so don't have to mess with MC.

Worth pointing out that Eureka released this in the UK, and Sony released this internationally in 2015. The latter is a region free disc with the usual plethora of subtitles, and what seems to be all the DVD extras including commentaries and commentary subtitles, to boot.

It's good that the film is being released here, though I'm not sure why you would need the Mill Creek disc:

The major perk of MC is that it'll be dirt cheap, but if you are region free, it is best to go with the Eureka release, which is pretty cheap at Amazon UK right now, and has a lot of extras included. Do the Sony releases port over the extras from the DVD too?

The already region free Sony release actually has more extras (the Eureka appears to have a short Introduction by Hardwicke not on the Sony), plus, as I stated, they have subtitles for all the extras, too, but the Eureka does have a 10 Mbps higher video bitrate. Could be a tough choice until someone does a comparison, but if I had to pick one:

Ah, nice. I couldn't find info on extras at Amazon.de (only for the DVD version).

All of the Sony editions (thus far) should be identical, designed for worldwide distribution. At the time, it was assumed that they didn't release it here because of some legal issue, but I don't know if that is true of if it was just their then-growing apathy towards catalogue titles in the US, since they also never bothered to release the disc in the UK or Australia.

Amazon lists the UK version as Region B. Is the amazon listing correct?

Yes, region B locked. The Sony international releases available in Germany, Scandinavia, Japan, etc..are region free though. Decently priced at amazon.de.

Been waiting for this for so long....and it ends up with MC. What a disappointment.

Looks like this will include a DTS HD MA 5.1 track, English subs, and a solid amount of extras according to the back cover. Also comes with a slipcover. Not bad for the bargain bin price.

Are there any reviews of this yet? I'm not really familiar with Mill Creek's track record.

I just found the unrated version in the Walmart bargain bin for $7.88 tonight.

The slipcover is pretty trippy in person, the A/V is probably the same as rated version (?).

Watched the movie and enjoyed it alot after not seeing it since DVD days.

Unrated BD is a winner, didn't realize the rated version was retro 4:3 ratio.

This is a really nice find (if you can get one) in the Walmart bargain BD bin.

I got this from the Walmart $7.88 bins with slipcover also.

I had to dig and was surprised to see it all the way at the bottom. But the slipcover was still in good shape yet.
