Default Funny store with this.

We were watching the movie and with 20 min left my player just shut off on its own. I’m like what the hell? Keep in mind this was happening over the last week and each time I would turn it back on again it would shut off again. It was updated of course and I did a reset.

This pushed my decision to replace the player (Samsung 8500) to a Sony X800. Far better player and a great sale ($300 down to $150). After we decided that it was best to replace instead of paying to fix the Samsung, a chat specialist told me to do the hard reset( I had forgotten about it). Sure enough, after the hard reset I was able to download a new software update that was being blocked for some reason and now the player works great so far.

My wife told me to keep the Sony and maybe give the Samsung to a friend of ours so we will see, but I set up the Sony and wow, far better video processor over the Samsung alone, it’s pretty impressive!

Long story short, I upgraded my player now despite having an old player I thought had issues. Sorry about being off topic....Dunkirk looks fabulous in UHD. Perfect across the board for me and that shimmering or flickering people are talking about is indeed inherent to the source (I remember it in the theater as well). And oh, that soundtrack.....quite aggressive and fully engaging and even better than what I remember! Recommended for me!

Samsung is only great for TV's and phones (aside from their update policy).

I never want a Samsung nor LG (4K) Blu-ray player again.

I am also very very happy with my Sony X800. It's fast, silent in operation and it's a heavy tank.

Is it really heavy? Then it's expensive; put it back.

Watching this now. Audio is a clipped mess. Heavy clipping abounds. Way to go Nolan!

Beautiful video.

That's odd because I don't even remember tanks in this movie

a great film, a series of events viewed from the perspective of different characters tied to one of the most humanitarian acts in history, and done with class.

great job mr nolan,

i dont understand why some people have scratched discs

i got my copy from Target today and the 4k disc was not stacked, it was by itself on the right side, and the blu-ray special feature discs were stacked on the left

It's weird, all of my other Nolan 4k movies I picked up this week were the way you describe, but Dunkirk was not. The 4k movie was stacked on the right side with the special features disc I believe. I promptly moved the second disc to the left side, and put the 4k disc by itself on the right.

i saw someone mention somewhere on here that the company that prints these discs had major production issues where a lot of the nolan movies got damaged and thats why there was such a shortage on release

this would vibe with the inconsistency of the way some were packaged

i also dont understand why 4k discs are so susceptible to scratches when blu-rays were damn near impossible to scratch

IMO that stacking business is very cheap business, very poor practice, disrespectful of the company, employees and customers. If they cannot afford each disc in their own secured compartment, if they cannot add an additional door inside for two more discs, one on each side, then it tells me how truly cheap and bad they are. It's no fun for us the customers having discs stacked because they do indeed get scratches during transportation.

I would recommend all studios to not stack discs any more. You want to put three or four or more discs inside one case, give them their own compartment, ...no more stacking please...respect your products, value your customers, provide them with intact goods for the money they pay you for. This is good business practice, so there is no reason to deviate from that. Anything else is cheap greed and brings only hatred instead of happiness.

Are you reading this Warner, Sony, Universal, Fox, Paramount, Lionsgate, E1, Disney, ... ?

We didn't see any tanks but they did mention them. And, in the streets @ the beginning, we could smell them.

Anyway, I use tank as a simple description of low rumble from its engine running.
But you knew that too.

Hi, please take a look at these two photos because of suspected UHD BD scratches. Thanks.

Based on what I have seen at the stores, it seems that the shortages were mainly in the archive titles. I have not noticed any shortage in the amount of Dunkirk copies at any of the stores I have visited.

BD are also easily susceptible to scratches, though not as easily prone as DVDs are. I've received quite a lot of BD with small scratches. Every time I see someone saying that BD are near impossible to scratch, it seems to me that they haven't actually tested them out. Drop them on the floor and a few inches of push will scratch it so easily. Look at the poor fella's disc below!!!

That is far much worse than the 3 scratches I have on my disc. Are you able to get a replacement? I'm gonna get mine exchanged.
