That's about all I would miss. MTV themselves have been pretty irrelevant for a while IMO.

Pretty sure it is across all regions. Looks like Direct will be getting another customer.

I think so. They didn't exactly say it was region specific but it was just those two cable companies.

ANYWAY I spoke to Time Warner, they say the deal might not fall through and are in heavy negotiations to keep those channels and work out a new contract with MTV Networks. From what the operator said that they are getting a ton of these phone calls and they reassured me that They would no more let these channels go then they would HBO since a lot of these channels are extremely popular(IE MTV, VH1, Spike).

There is a message running across these channels urging you to call the powers that be; even on the DirecTV feed.

Must be from the channels themselves and not the cable companies that's flagging those black-stripped marquee messages.

I hope they fix it. I don't want to have to buy satellite equipment but if I lose Nickelodeon my kids would be most upset.

Same here, and I love Spongebob too. This may be what pushes me to finally fufill my dream of having a service that allows me to subscribe to Setanta Sports.

I enjoy spongebob almost as my as my daughter.

My wife has never wanted to switch to satellite though due to reception in storms.

Wow without question time warner must be on the verge of going under. Comcast has been adding channels, just got another 4 hd stations about a week ago.

It is. I'm getting the messages with WOW cable too.

I would be ready to change service if I had one of those 2 services.

Those would suck. Time Warner just bailed from our area and we have Comcast now.

I doubt they are on the verge of going under. Viacom wants more money and TWC doesn't want to pay it. TWC is in a pickle. Let's say they bend and pay viacom more then the other service offerings could pull the same stunt wanting more money.

Give an inch, take a mile.....

In my opinion, TWC will pay and and they will simply pass that cost on to the customers.

That's what will happen, and there will be more stories about how cable costs are out of control.

Exactly: They're not being "dumped", it's the other way around--
Viacom is going to take its ball(s) and go home, if they don't get their money.

Which they probably will (either one), since Warner excels at corporate stubbornness.

No way they wont settle this, twc would loose too many customers if this went through.

I agree that this will eventually be settled, but I could see the channels disappearing for a while. Cable companies are negotiating more aggressively, even if that means losing some customers. In my area one of the cable companies lost their CBS and Fox affiliates for over a month in a dispute with their owners over fees.

Yeah, it just seems like some big staring contest, with each side thinking the other will blink during the 11th hour.
