Default Time Warner Cable vs Dish

iv had my HD service for a yr now on cable...i love watchin HD theater on discovery channel...now i have the science channel---cnn--history..etc etc all on HD....excellent..what i dont like is that some of the shows on sci channel seemed to be stretch so much that some text are being cut off from teh bottom...like when they are displayin a scienctist name or something...its annoying..while some e.g on cnn are not.............is this the same issue with dish.....i know hd whne i see hd...my tv aspect ratio is set to auto ...its not me..its the cable...i went to time warner and was about to hold them hostage.... ..but i change my mind. they dont know hell about HD.......im thinking about switchin if dish gives better HD ...REAL HD.....not jus a stretch program that mimics HD

It has nothing to do with who you get your HD service through, it is coming completely from the station itself. Some of the programs are upconverted and stretched to fit the screen by the network broadcasting it. Switching services will do you no good to resolve this.

I have comcast and have no troubles, of course the picture can be stretched on some channels but that has nothing to do with the cable or dish provider. And go take a look at the week hd lineup for fios before you go switch, they have less channels then what a cable or dish provider offers and i have seen many complaints that fios has no plans to offer more channels anytime soon because they also are suffering from bandwidth constraints the same as all cable and dish providers are.

Me personally i rather have the extra hd stations then a tick more of a quality picture, i have blu-disk for watching top notch picture quality.

I hate the fact that Comcast followed suit and downgraded their PQ like Dish did and a few others...

Verizon is the best in PQ for HD content right now...Direct TV is 2nd...

I have Verizon FiOS, and it is flat out RIDICULOUS how good it looks. We had Bright House HD prior, and it was alright. But Verizon HD just looks crazy good!

As for the Sci-Fi Channel issue, it's the way the station is formatting it, not the carrier. My wife works for a local PBS station, and when they first when HD, they had issues formatting their feeds as well.

i have dish network with the HD package and i think mine looks fantastic. when friends and family come over they can't believe how good it looks. i guess it all about where you live and how its set up. no complaints here. my friend has fios at his house and i thought it looked great, but i did not see a huge difference between his and mine.

HD programming is something to where you can either tell that it is HD, or it's not. I was hoping that I could give a bit of information coming from me as a DISH employee. @SHATTA, all of the channels you listed previously we have in HD as well. Except ours is actual TRUE HD. Its like MATTYBLU2 said, it's fantasic. DISH is the leader in HD, and that because its not only a great picture quality but because of the number of channels offered. As for a the cut off picture- with DISH programming (and most other remotes), you can press the * button at the bottom left and readjust the picture. It will cycle through the different settings until you get one you like( most newer tvs/remotes have this function). I hope this helped a bit!
