Hell yeah. Now I'm glad I held off on buying the previous release.

Awesome. Would love them to put together a solid collection of extras with the actors at least. I would also love someone to release The Ladykillers. I would double dip on a loaded release of Miller’s Crossing or a new scan of The Big Lewbowski.

The previous release is ten years old, that was some epic holding off.

Already have the 2009 Collectors Edition, and it’s a beauty. Doubtful that Criterion can improve much on that one, but great news just the same with more Coen Bros in the Criterion Collection.

Wonder if they’ll do Big Lebowski next? That’s where my mind went when seeing the bowling ball and bullets on the New Year’s drawing. Mark it zero!

I have that collector's edition as well (with a somewhat dinged-up slipcover, no less). If the Criterion carries over the same extras and adds more, I'll gladly double-dip.

Now, can we PLEASE have The Ladykillers to fill in the last hole in my HD Coen collection?

Can't wait to see what extras they add. I already love the BD I have, but for one of my absolute favorite films, gimme. If only they had gotten Barton Fink instead of Kino.

If they could swipe that and Lynch’s Wild at Heart from Kino, I would be very happy.

This is the third Best Picture winner coming from Criterion this year after Lambs and Tom Jones. I wonder how many more we'll get!

I'm probably in the minority, but I never really understood the fuss over this movie, and I personally love most of the other movies made by the Cohen bros. I just remember being incredibly disappointed by this when I saw it, and I would've preferred Criterion tackled the Big Lebowski next instead of this.

Good catch! I didn't even think to think of that.

If my calculations are correct, Criterion has released/plans to release the following Best Picture winners on Blu-ray.

1. 1934 - It Happened One Night
2. 1940 - Rebecca
3. 1954 - On the Waterfront
4. 1963 - Tom Jones
5. 1987 - The Last Emperor
6. 1991 - The Silence of the Lambs
7. 2007 - No Country for Old Men

West Side Story has been rumored for several months now.

Going My Way seems inevitable if Criterion decides to keep releasing Leo McCarey films.

We need, I stress need, The Lost Weekend domestically.

EDIT: Hamlet has to get an upgrade someday. I feel as if the studio releases a batch of Shakespeare films and then forgets about them for a while.

I loved it when I first saw it, but it just didn’t grab me with repeat viewings. And I find the Coens to be the best filmmakers currently working.
That said, I would’ve hoped their next Criterion title was either Miller’s Crossing or The Man Who Wasn’t There.

[Show spoiler]If you watch the film with the understanding that it's really Ed Tom Bell's (Tommy Lee Jones) story, you will have a new perspective. I was the same way on my initial viewing.

One thing that really took me out of it when I first saw it was
[Show spoiler]Llewelyn getting killed pointlessly off-screen, and not even by the main villain.
. When I first saw the movie, I thought to myself that that couldn't have just happened, and I had to rewind it to make sure. It was probably one of the biggest WTF moments for me in movie history. Also, what the hell was the point of Woody Harrelson's character?
