I had my entire collection in these plastic bins back when I lived in an apartment a couple of years ago, and they really made the transportation to my new home a lot easier. When I bought this home and moved in, I figured that I shouldn't fix a system that is not broken.

It's not pretty, but it's surprisingly practical, since I can simply add movies to the respective genre bins. Also, since it's in the walk-in closet, it doesn't have to be pretty.

As my collection grows, I'll be specifying the categories more. “1970s horror”, “Hammer horror”, “1950s Criterion”, and so on, but, for now, I'm able to find everything easily.

It's not practical for me to store my movies in alphabetical order by title, because that would involve frequent shifting around of movies and such when I add more titles.

I keep mine in huge wooden crate that sits next to the couch to protect them from my three years old. Course, if you've seen me complain in other threads, you'll know that cleaning the crate out to organize and a three year-old learning to drink apple juice from a big kid cup can really raise your blood pressure.

My wife doesn't care what I buy and doesn't need to rewatch many movies, but will say she enjoyed watching Dawn Of The Dead- one of the first I bought- when the format was a novelty. My advice to all is that a partner who disapproves of your passions isn't the right one!

Agreed. My wife gave me the largest wall in our living room for all of my movies and comics. The compromise? She has the rest of the house. lol

There's wooden chest in my downstairs living room behind my sofa where I keep the “crowd pleaser” stuff, like the Star Wars Movies, the James Bond 007 movies, the Marvel superhero movies, the Mad Max movies, the Rocky movies, and such.

In my upstairs collection, however, I have everything in these plastic Target bins that are labeled by genre (“Horror”, “Film Noir”, etc.), so somebody who is looking for the sleazy stuff will probably not have to look too hard.

This reminds me of a conversation that I had with a friend who served in the Marines years ago. He told me that, during the four times that somebody on the base died, he would give that deceased soldier's apartment keys to his sister, who was living with him at the time, so that she could go through the soldier's house and get rid of anything that might bring dishonor to the soldier if the soldier's family and friends were to go through the house later on. He instructed his sister never to tell him what she found, but he did see her leave a couple of the homes with big trash bags that were full.

The above conversation was inspired by a discussion that I had heard on a morning radio show where the hosts were asking people to call in and reveal if they had "porn buddies" who, in the event of their deaths, would go into their home and remove all of the incriminating porn stuff. One guy called in and said that he had removed two closets full of porn magazines and videos immediately after a housemate of his had died.

Thankfully, if I were to die suddenly, then all people would find in my townhouse would be a few sleazy drive-in flicks from Vinegar Syndrome Blu-rays, Code Red Blu-rays, and the like. I'm pretty sure that those close to me would laugh this stuff off, though. It wouldn't be like, “OMG! I can't believe that The Great Owl was into that stuff!”
Well, I'm a Librarian and people would never suspect I'd have A Serbian Film, Martyrs, or Salo in my collection! Well...some of my colleagues know and are disturbed after doing a Google search on those movies!

Oh, and one of my plastic bins has all of the James Bond 007 movies and all of the Jean-Pierre Melville movies (Le Samouraï, etc.).

If my townhouse ever catches on fire, then that's going to be the bin that I save.

Not the one with the 1978 Dawn Of The Dead Blu in it?

That’s an interesting thread discussion. I’m sure it’s on this forum somewhere.

I don't own the 1978 Dawn of the Dead, sadly. I was too late to the game with regard to buying the Anchor Bay Blu-ray.

I used to own the four-disc DVD set, but sold it off at one point when I started my Blu-ray collection and was purging my DVDs that I *knew* would receive Blu-ray upgrades someday.

This is why I'm always watching this thread with great interest, to see if a Region A playable Blu-ray comes down the pipes.

I remember at different times having the Arrow release and the Anchor Bay release in my cart, ready to pull the trigger on both of them but resisting at the last minute after reading reviews that neither transfer was good enough. And now, they are OOP. I should've taken on a chance on at least one of them. Oh well...

For sure. I was really hoping Scream Factory received the rights to it when they released the 2004 version. Packaging of the two would’ve been ideal.

I was lucky enough to score a copy of the original Anchor Bay release for $5 at an FYE two years ago when they were closing a store.

I wish we could get an "Ultimate Edition" like we got on DVD.

Sort of the same thing here. I just truly started collecting about 1 1/2 years ago and so I was far too late. I've came close to shelling out 50 bucks for the current release. Honestly, there seems to be no real reason to believe that a new release will come out on the blu ray format and so I'll probably bite the bullet soon and just pay the money and get a copy.

Like the old Morrissey song goes, “I know it's gonna happen someday.”

A movie like this won't be denied to Region A Blu-ray for long.

Managed to pick up the Happinet Extended Cut for dirt cheap (at least compared to buying it on a site like Amazon JP), along with Happinet Night of the Living Dead. It's not too bad for the price (33).

Technically we do in the Happinet box set and Midnight Factory 4K releases. Granted both feel incomplete or problematic in one way or the other.

The Ultimate Edition DVD is the way to go until a better release comes along. All the BD's are crap and a waste of money imo.

The AB could definitely be better, but 'crap' it's not.

It's slightly better than the AB ultimate edition DVD.

I understand that it was one of AB's first Blu-rays on the market, but comparing it to where we are now in regards to Blu-ray mastering, I'd agree on the crap comment.
