Watching this now and it looks amazing and the AQ Is more open, bass hits harder just looks and sound nice

At first I wasn't going to buy this after reading many reviews. How ppl talked about the PQ was soft. But like I said, everybody system is different and it played nice here on my set up. No problems....

Mind telling us your setup? I found the UHD to be amazing on my folks setup. Be interesting (to me at least) if there is pattern to the user reporting. I'm sure personal preference plays a big hand in some titles, too.

I know a few of us dislikers have larger (75), brighter FALD sets that very clearly show the shortcomings or strengths of different titles. If it’s a bad title, it’ll show up. Bad upscales are very easily resolved / revealed on bigger sets. Just as good upscales are very easily enjoyed on bigger sets.

I’ll quote myself from another thread on this botch job:

Every studio uses different methods and every title is a bit different. Some are done better than others. You think there’s a single checkbox in a single piece of editing software that every single 2K DI upscale by every studio has had checked?
Tons of variables involved - algorithms, softness settings, edge enhancements (or lack of) etc. There’s a myriad of adjustments as to how the images are upscaled, and it’s all up to the editor(s) controlling the software. There’s a major element of creative liberty involved here and visual opinions abound (good and bad).
Oblivion UHD being a perfect example of how to completely botch an upscale job. Start out with one of the most excellent 2K sources in existence, and ruin it for UHD.
Sure it’s got great HDR - completely different component of the editing job as a whole.
But whoever was in charge of the upscale and overall softness/sharpness decisions (and they were intentional decisions) needs to be fired as it ruined what could’ve been a top 3 reference disc as it is on std BD.
It’s almost like the Oblivion editors didn’t actually have a UHD display to verify their final work on. Like they literally were viewing their final passes on 1080p monitors and saying “looks great - nailed it!”
See what I’m getting at?
I would think / hope these upscales will continue to get better and sharper as time is spent editing on the format. Equipment gets refreshed/improved.
I can only hope Oblivion gets a second release and Edge of Tomorrow gets a proper editing job. Maybe Oblivion was our sacrificial title in the education of how to upscale properly for UHD.

It angers me that Edge of Tomorrow is not avaialble on UHD yet. Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow are two of the best looking 4K transfers I have ever watched on my 55" Oled TV from 8 feet viewing distance.

I still need to get Oblivion in 4K but I'll stick with the 3D for Edge Of Tomorrow.
Just waiting on a good enough price drop to justify double dipping.

Edge of Tomorrow in Dolby Vision-depite only available on streaming-looks like it would be a knockout on UHD!

I'm quite sure I saw this for $10 at Target tonight. I took a price of the tag but my phone is dead and I haven't plugged it in to charge yet. Will update the post to confirm

So I got a request for 3 copies of the Oblivion 4K at the $10 price but my store only had 2 that I saw. I'll search at another store. Anyway, the price tag is marked at $10 but they rang up at $14.99 and I think even when he scanned the barcode on the sticker, it rang up at $14.99. He adjusted the price so I paid just under $22 for two copies.

It seems like there is a whole lotta love being given to this title lately, which is totally opposite of the earlier posts for it. I might just have to order this one from Amazon now..

Its an interesting 4K disc. The detail in some scenes are absolutely marvelous, but others (especially during the last act) do look a bit too soft for my liking.

An absolute steal at $10 though.

I picked up the third copy just awhile ago at another Target. I tried to PM at BB showing them the receipt from Target but it was a no-go which I kind of expected. No biggie.

Got mine for $13 But no regrets. This now ranks as my top go-to demo when I want to impress my peers with UHD content

...that's quite a statement considering how divisive people's opinion of the picture quality on this disc is...

I've had both the 4K and standard 1080p bluray in my Amz shopping cart for months not knowing which to order.

What display (and screen size) are you watching this on?

You order the 4K UHD for $10-13 because you get the BD disc with that anyways. Then you can formulate your own judgement.

The bluray only disc is 5.99 or I'd wait for the 4K to drop to $10...I'm reading a lot of people saying the blurays picture quality is better...hence the question.
