Someone asked on Facebook but Scream said they couldn't discuss anything else about the acquisition at this time.

I have a feeling the rights to one or more of these reverted back to Larco (Larry Cohen) at some point. If anything, Warner might be kicking in part 3 for the box set, as they may own that outright.

Usually they would say no to this type of question. Like when someone asked them on FB if they had a deal with Sony, after the Piranha 2 announcement, and they said they didn't.

So maybe they did miraculously make a deal with Warner.

Yeah a Warners deal would be huge ( Poltergeist, Critters!), but I'll keep my expectations in check. There's a good chance they licensed these from the Cohen or someone else.

If they suddenly announce Deadly Friend we'll know they're in bed with Warner

This is how Scream needs to announce something, rather than waiting until it leaks somewhere like Amazon or Barnes & Noble like usually happens.

This is a pretty big announcement from them and I hope they have some other big titles like this in store, as much as I enjoy picking up their obscure releases (Eye of the Cat, The Projected Man, etc.) they can't be selling well for them.

I'd be surprised if Warner started licencing stuff out - their Warner Archive line seems to be doing fairly well and they just released Texas Chainsaw 3 - which would have been a prime candidate for SF.

Yeah, and there's no WB logo on the side of the box. I would think there would be one if they licensed it to Scream Factory.

I'm guessing the rights went back to Larco and that WB no longer controls it.

WOW! Incredible, and unexpected, news this is. Day one purchase.

Agree with the sentiments of those above that feel it's unlikely Shout has a deal with Warner, but if they do... man oh man.

Return of the Living Dead part II, Alice, Sweet Alice, The Mangler, Eyes Of A Stranger, He Knows You're Alone, Night Terrors, Deadly Friend, Jason Goes To Hell. The list of possibilities would be extensive.

Wow, that's interesting. Where do you get that copyright info from?

If Scream does have a deal with Warner, I'll only request one title for now:

PRIVATE PARTS (1972, Paul Bartel).

That title would be a perfect release for Scream Factory.

Only certain license holders seem to require Scream to have their logos on the spines, such as MGM, iTV. Others...Fox, Universal, Morgan Creek...have not.

Scream's very pronounced silence on how they acquired this title makes me suspect they were able to secure some or all of these from Warners and believe this will lead to future deals but don't want to disturb the waters too much by stirring up their fanbase. Time will tell soon enough. Warners has been licensing to Criterion, and Scream/Shout have pretty deep pockets themselves. And considering that Shout! was formed by three guys who sold Rhino to Warners, I'm sure they have connections still with WB.

With Scream going big on Larry Cohen I guess it's quite probable we'll see Wicked Stepmother released this year.

FWIW the It’s Alive movies are all still listed as being owned by Warner on Vudu and amazon. Coupled together with them being very vague when they are addressing licensing these. Just seems odd. I highly doubt they have anything with Warner though.
