*might instead be DTS:X as Warner uses both

I’d be fine with just the original sound mix. Movies that didn’t have atmos when it came out dont require an atmos track.

i kinda agree but after you hear stuff like blade runner 4k with an atmos track. it makes you think twice and to be more open minded about 3d audio

I've hated that awful timing since they mussed up the film for the 2004 release. And upon much further inspection while the 1999 DVD, Laserdisc and letterboxed VHS (same master is shared with some format differentiations.) aren't perfect they are a far better representation of the original theatrical run than the awful thing they did to it.
I've owned the BD set for a few years and occasionally spin the sequels for curiosity's sake but always wind up going back to the '99 DVD for the original.

A proper 4K scan could be stunning though admittedly it might make some of the effects look a bit dated which is to be expected. The best I've ever seen the film was a few years ago at the local arthouse where it turned out WB had sent a dye transfer Technicolor print which was news to me that the short lived revival included Matrix prints.

I'd love to see the theatrical audio presented untouched as well since it's a fun ride but WB may only do an Atmos upmix sadly.
Nope.

I did not read this thread, only the excellent title, and the first post.
I am certain that this has been mentioned before; if they can give us great catalog movie titles in 4K with HDR and Dolby Vision, it would be cool if they could also take a shot @ it in 3D, and with 3D Atmos.
It's easier in 4K.

But yeah, The Matrix trilogy in 3D would be super cool, just like LOTR trilogy. That one should be in 4K as well, with DTS:X

Good weekend, good games, Olympic games.

True, they did an amazing job with that Blade Runner atmos track. It just wouldn’t bother me if they don’t do one though for the Matrix or any older movie, if they do, great.

If it's well done, bring on the Atmos!

Matrix won an Oscar for sound long before Atmos mixes for home media.

I haven't come across an immersive remix that has been worse than the original mix (even though there are rarely original mixes on home video anymore anyway) and often times better.

Seriously? You guys are crazy. There are scenes in the first Matrix that would be incredible demo material if given a proper Atmos sound mix. Fingers crossed they go that way, I'd love nothing more than to watch some of the action in 7.1.4 without needing the receiver to upmix it.

I'd rather the original cinematic audio track in lossless instead.

If I want demo material, I’ll use a... demo. I want the movie disc to present the movie the way the filmmakers designed it.

That is not the original theatrical mix. The blu-ray mix lacks a ton of dynamic range.

Hope we get something closer to the original colour grading of the cinema and dvd for the first film instead of green tone of the blu ray. I know why they did it to keep in line with the next two but I do prefer what we got on the big screen.

From my understanding that's the home theater mix and not the OG cinematic audio mix. Hell, Interstellar has the OG cinematic audio mix as another track on the UHD and several other do, from my understanding, on the format.
