Default PS3 BD Remote died??

Tonight, I was watching a blu-ray on my PS3 and when I went to use my PS3 BD remote to goto the menu, it was not working. I thought it may have been the batteries and I changed them, but the remote still doesnt work. Not a single function on the remote will work. Any solution to this problem? I hope the remote isn't a dud, I just got it for christmas.

The same thing happened to me. I pressed a button on the remote; it acted as though it was repeatedly moving the cursor left, then it dies. I changed the batteries but it didn't work. It just died. A nice colorful brick.

Have you registered your remote with your ps3 in your user settings?

Did you try to re-register it after it stopped working?

I have been experiencing the similar (or same) problem. My remote freezes often. Whenever it freezes, I turn off the main system PS3 then it works again. I called sony customer service yesterday and they said the remote might be in energy save mode, which can be released by pushing PS3 button on the remote. Mine froze again after the call but the remedy they'd taught me didn't work. It can work for you though. I think PS3 has a problem with blu tooth connection because the controller doesn't work wirelessly either when the remote doesn't. I'll call the c/s again.

My official Blu-ray remote likes to turn on my PS3 all by itself. I recieved it as a gift and didn't really want/need it anyways, so i just took the batteries out of it.

This happened to me once. Hold down Eject & Start button on the PS3, it will reset the PS3 to factory. Then re-pair the remote. Play around with it and it'll work again. I'm not even 100% sure what I did, just that it works now.
