1. James goes outside with the gun in his hands, Kristen standing on the porch. This shot on the porch ends a little earlier in the rated R version followed by a shot of James sneaking through the forest with an interrupted cut on the barn door. Again Kristen on the porch turning slowly back facing the house. With this subjective view into the house both versions synchronize. ( 19 sec. ) On the other hand in the unrated Kristen turns herself in a close-up towards the camera followed by a long shot of her turning towards the house. Alternate view on James opening the car, where all attempts to find the keys were in vain and then tries to bypass the ignition. He failed and drums his fingers frustrated on the car seat and then slams the door. ( 31 sec. ) A total time difference of: ( 12 sec. ) 2. Extended Ending: The second difference occurs shortly before the end. Right after the screams of both victims, added with location shots, there is an instant cut onto the two children walking down the street. However in the unrated it’s safe to say it’s an extended end. First shot on the open door. Then the corpses are shown. The mobile phone of James’ brother rings – now it’s clear Kristen is still alive! She opens her eyes and with her last ounce of strength she crawls to the ringing mobile. When she reaches it, the calling partner already hung up. She tries to dial a number recognizing the man standing behind her. She cups her arms around her head awaiting the final kiss of death. But the dude only takes the mobile and disappears. Kristen stares after him, collapses back with her head onto James brother’s chest and dies. Now it’s getting clearer why she is laying on the brother. ( 132 sec. ) Last edited by OneWayFilms; 03-05-2018 at 11:06 PM. |

Here's hoping Scream doesn't botch the Unrated Version like they did with Drag Me to Hell, which, in case none of you know, misses two of the Unrated differences in the Unrated Version included on the disc, and instead, just features the Theatrical Version changes.
Not an apocalypse or anything, but a mind-boggling error nonetheless. Contacted them, but I don't expect a response. |

Strangers is a good film, creepy imo. I'm on the fence because I hate DDing, but the extras look good. I really wish these CEs did more than just add some extras and do a new scan or something. At the prices it really makes me mad they don't upgrade the video. Gah... |

I ordered this after reading the review, but after comparing screenshots between this and the old release on this website does anyone else feel like the picture quality looks worse? I understand there is compression and all, but the shout transfer looks washed out and the black levels look really bad. Is that how this new disc actually looks? If so I may just return this stick with the old one, even with the new special features and the BD-50s. Anyone actually watched the Scream Factory disc yet?

I know no one will care save for me, but just letting y'all know, the Blu-ray is missing the full theatrical trailer (which is available in decent HD quality on YouTube, so no big). They've only included the awesome teaser. Usually they're pretty good about promotional material, but this isn't the first time this has happened (they also didn't include one of the trailers for The Shadow). Also, the TV spots are ripped straight from YouTube it seems as they are nigh unwatchable (similar to how they ripped the Drag Me to Hell trailer from a streaming version also on YouTube).
I don't say this to crap on Scream or anything, just for edification's sake. Checking now to make sure the Theatrical and Unrated cuts are intact! |

It looked great to me, but then again, having never owned the original Universal release, I can do no proper comparison. Blacks seem a little on the brown side, but that could just be because the film has been filtered to feel like the old-school '70s horror flicks it takes so much from, that nice warm glow around the edges.
Lovely grain and colors, though. ![]() |

Should have shopped around on this one. Usually the preorder savings guarantee on Amazon works out and I pay around $20 for new releases, but this one cost me $29. I guess the lowest it went was the $25.70 and somehow $4 got tacked on for tax.

I watched the MGM Blu last night. If the SF had dipped below $20, I would have bit. But I can't afford to upgrade titles that I already have perfectly good BDs of. Plus, snafus like Drag Me to Hell make preordering a crapshoot. And ripping content from YouTube, instead of getting it from the studio, as someone pointed out? That's just sad.
