LOL. 768 vertical lines of resolution equals 768p, which is what the set will display. Source material has NOTHING to do with it. Your really need to bone-up on display resolution versus source resolution before you post anymore.

Hmmm, let me see....A Vizio TV and an HTiB? I suppose they are all connected with Monster cables to give everything an extra zing? Got a Bose Lifestyle system on order?

Thanks for the link. I thought I had it saved in my "useful links" category in my AV folder. It is now.

/I'm done.
Look at my set up. Do you see a Vizio? That was an old TV I had. Which was very good I might add. There's a big fat Bravia XBR sitting in the living room right now. You would't know anything about that would you?

It's amazing. Okay, "768p" is so great that 1080p is pale in comparison. You are so off base here.

As a matter of a fact I've got probably 7 HDMI cables. All for different devices.

And this statement is based on what? Nice attack. I won't even justify it with a response.

I never made a blanket statement like that. The fact that everyone else on this thread has agreed that a 768p (yes, it is 768p, read-up on technology before you make yourself look even more foolish) Pany will have a better overall picture than a 1080p Insignia should be proof enough for you.

Finally something we can agree on! Don't worry though. I'm sure that if you spend the next week or two researching these topics, you'll finally understand well enough to have an informed discussion some day.

You attacked my old Vizio first. So, maybe you forgot about that.

And yes, you did say that.

I'm glad you enjoy your 768p television.

I used to own one. And I can tell you that the picture is a lot better on my XBR.

Ricshoe,

For what it's worth, i'd take your 58" Panasonic TH-58PE75U ALL DAY LONG over CKent's XBR...

This thread is getting ridiculous. I 100% completely agree with the fact that the 768P Panasonic will give better picture than the 1080P Insignia. I also agree that the 768P Pioneer is a better tv than 90% of todays HDTV's on the market. Nuff Said.

Good for you. Go join that dude in 720p land. Oh no I mean "768p" land. You want to insult me that's fine. But the 52inch XBR blows that out of the water.

Because you have your cable box set to 1080i.
If you set it to 480i your TV will read "480i", it doesn't change the broadcast resolution which is 720p.

Your TV will only tell you what YOU are sending it, not what the original content was/is...no TV can do that.

A good 768p set is better than a poor 1080p set any day of the week.

There is no documentation or tests supporting any other theory.
Everything we know as avphiles supports this assesment.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is just plainly wrong.
