I don't know that it's necessarily going to "hurt" the TV, but I'd argue that you can get a better picture in different modes.

AVSforum will give you entire threads about the preferred picture settings for specific tv models.

There's another great website out there that will recommend picture settings for your specific model, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Can anyone help me out?
