I'd give this 3/5. They changed some things from the games but that was to be expected, would have liked some things left though. Some of the changes I didn't like at all. Action was good, CGI was OK. There weren't many people at all in the theater, by that I mean it was almost empty. I'm not sure if this is going to be the franchise starter they're hoping it will be.

which ruined most of it for me. She's always a Solo character even on her adventures.

Yeah, it was alright. Having Lara working with her father was weird. It definitely strays too far from what the game was, story-wise. My theater was a ghost town, it was almost like I was having my own private screening.

Seriously, the reboot is a better movie than the actual movie lol.

I liked the movie but I agree some things were done better in the game. Although some of the changes they made for the movie were to help connect this story with the larger Trinity conspiracy, which I thought was a good idea as it will make the series feel more cohesive than the games are at the moment.

Yeah, I kind of wish Luddington had done this movie. I know she's busy with Grey's Anatomy and all that, but it would've meshed with the video game better.

After the movie I went to a game store & bought both Tomb Raider & Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4. I know I'll enjoy replaying the story in those more then I did the story in the new movie.

She uses an english accent here, instead of trying to do her fake american accent so she sounds a bit more natural.

Oh yeah, the story in both of those games wipe the floor up with the story that is in this movie. I'm expecting Shadow of the Tomb Raider to have an excellent story as well...

Yeah, she does do a weird american accent. I thought her english accent in this movie was much better.

That's one of my most anticipated new game releases this year. I never got to play the DLC to Rise so that will be new to me when I play.

There is one part of the movie that I think was inspired by part of what's in the Croft Manor DLC. I played that one in VR.

Yeah, there's a Croft Manor DLC for Rise that is really good. I'm definitely preordering Shadow when they put it up.

That's another issue I had with the movie. Croft manor is hardly in it but in flashback scenes and in exterior shots.

One thing the 2001 version got right is that it really focuses on Croft manor a lot.

Well that's also true of the new games too aside from that DLC.

Yeah, that is definitely true. That's really where they dropped the ball the most and I don't really understand it. What was Lara's arc?

It seemed like they were going out of their way to go left where the game went right. Maybe so people familiar with the game could be surprised? Mission accomplished, I guess.

They certainly still had plenty of fan service that sustained me through it. It was weird - I'd be disappointed in something they "changed" while thinking "cool" a minute later.

And I'm not against change - they did not have to follow the game for me to be happy. But, what they came up with was not better than the game.

Some of these games really are written better than many big budget action movies.
