This is the cheapest I've seen so far for this. $25.99
Still looks like it only comes in 5.1 instead of 7.1

Betamax was too good for consumers... that's why.

Yes it was.
Given the choice, consumers will always pick the cheapest version.

The dvd still has the best special features. Dam fox is it that hard to include the EPK and deleted/ alternate scenes.

Sony killed Beta. They wouldn't license it because it was superior so the pricing was not competitive. The VHS licensing ran rampant and that's all folks

The problem was, people were primarily using 20" CRTs which we not going to show much of a difference anyway. Why not go with a 6 hour tape vs 2 hour tape in that case?

Hope this means that the rest of the series will get 4K treatment.

So glad I didn’t get the chance to buy the Blu-ray collection.

Certain users on Blu-ray.com have claimed at various points that all three of the original films were remastered prior to the release of A Good Day to Die Hard and the accompanying five film marathon. To my knowledge there has been no official confirmation of this, however, and the lack of a complete set rather than just the first film causes me to doubt those claims a bit. It's not that Fox couldn't just reissue the first film for the 137th time, but in the past the first three films have always dropped on new formats at the exact same time and their decision to leave out the sequels at this time seems a bit odd. But that's just my opinion.

Was that meant to be insulting?

I certainly don’t mind owning them individually if that eventually happens.

just saying that this is obviously sucker bait for collector's to buy a beloved title and then get them to double dip a few months later for a set. It's getting old.....

Will there be advantage of getting the 4K over the Blu-Ray even if they have the same audio and features?

Nah all that's left is the 4K resolution and HDR/WCG but those totally aren't a big deal...

Plus the Blu-Ray is almost $20 cheaper than the 4K at this point.

These pre-order prices are always higher than what they end up being on release day. Especially from Fox.
