It's doing really well overseas, don't worry about it we're getting a sequel.

I was hoping Hot Toys would’ve done a Vikander Lara figure, but it doesn’t look like they are.

Hence my kudos.

Still haven't forgiven you for saying the new film is mediocre.

Let's take a moment to admire this fun opening and not some 20 min filler BS. Ok bye.

I used to have an action figure of poor ol' S.I.M.O.N.

God knows what happened to it.

While I do think it's pretty fun, and Angelina is of course sexy AF, I absolutely despise the way it's edited. It drives me batty.

What a letdown. I expected female Rambo and Die Hard on an island like the excellent game, but sadly that is not what we got.
We only got one good puzzle and don’t get me started on the flashbacks! The villain was also super weak and looked as if he didn’t knew how to properly handle a gun.
Vikander was good though.

I absolutely love the overall more serious tone of Tomb Raider, lacking the forced, wise cracking and unfunny humor every 5 minutes like in most Marvel movies. Should a sequel be made, I pray it will be like the first one tonally.
I don’t know what Marvel has to do with this movie but I saw Black Panther recently, and thankfully it didn’t have any cheesy and uninspired 90s action movie lines like this:

I haven't seen Black Panther yet (I heard it had a more serious tone which sounds good to me ) but if you look at the average Marvel movie in recent years, there is always an abundance of wisecracking humor in it. Sadly this has now also become the norm for other movies including Star Wars as well (don't get me started on the new SW movies ). IMHO this is an alarming trend.

Tomb Raider thankfully is more serious in tone. No smart ass comments or jokes all the time throughout the whole movie. There are a couple of instances of brief comedy, which I didn't mind at all. And that "I'll Take Two" is actually part of one. And speaking of, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It's a nice little oneliner which ofcourse is also a nice reference to Lara's weapons of choice in the games. I think it was nicely done and perfectly timed also, unlike the constant deluge of forced and unfunny "jokes" in most recent Marvel movies.

That screenwriter I was talking about is also the writer for Marvel's upcoming Captain Marvel. She has stated that her abandoned ideas for Tomb Raider as an action comedy have now gone to that movie instead for which I am very grateful. The tone of Tomb Raider as it is now is perfect I think.

It did have 90's CGI though. Rhinos straight out of Jumanji.

How is that cheesy? There were cheers in the theater for that line, as it's a nerdgasm moment of her getting her signature dual pistols. And yet they ruined that in the trailer. I don't understand that.
