Game wise, even that segment is under threat from mobile. They are now pushing PUBG, with Fortnite just recently receiving a mobile version. The only thing holding it back is the touchscreen joypad and buttons. |

Physical and digital aren't going to kill each other but big tv's/projectors and cheap physical/digital probably will kill theaters. When your customer base is shrinking and to counter act that you are raising prices to make up for that then in general that is a death spiral as its unsustainable. The same thing is happening to cable and that is where most of digital's "growth" came from (digital cable subscriptions becoming digital Netflix subscriptions) |

It's an interesting read. It has some cool pictures too. [Show spoiler] Quote:

Say it ain't so, Joe, say it ain't so. Yeah, a case could be made that home theaters might be getting a little too good relative to actual theaters but watching a ball game at home and going to a ball game are still two different experiences and there's still probably plenty of room for both. The film industry has a long history of endeavoring to distinguish itself from the home experience. Color, widescreen, 3D, surround sound, Imax and the like were all ways in which theaters tried to give consumers something they couldn't easily replicate at home. Some of them were huge advances, some were gimmicky, some worked, some didn't but through it all theaters have survived. Will that be the case fifty years from now? I have no idea. But I'll be 105 then so I'm not going to let it keep me up nights ![]() |

In regards to the sony Ultra streaming app the bitrate will vary between 12 to 24Mb/s for 4K HDR content. Just had the response from Sony support.

I'll still buy the 4K disc myself, but it looks like Apple is the leader in Digital streaming quality. Last edited by Vilya; 03-29-2018 at 10:31 PM. |

Who ever responded to you was using old information from 2017, because I talked to Sony Support a couple of weeks ago they said now averaging 25Mbps. I have been using it, and their Movies are Fantastic!

![]() ![]() Either someone was impressed by digital HD or it's bait. I suspect the later. Renting would have been through itunes US since it's not available on the UK store due to price and well it's pretty common knowledge there's no 4k titles from disney. |
