Steven Spielberg made it official today that Colin Trevorrow is coming back to the Jurassic World franchise, directing the third installment.

Trevorrow was responsible for rebooting the Amblin 1990s’ movie Jurassic Park with 2015’s Jurassic World making it the fourth-highest grossing title of all-time with $1.67 billion at the global B.O. The filmmaker last year departed his directing duties on Star Wars: Episode IX which J.J. Abrams took over.

Trevorrow is a writer and producer on the sequel Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom due out on June 22 and helmed by J.A. Bayona.

As previously announced, Jurassic World 3 is scheduled to open on June 11, 2021. Trevorrow is also EP and writing with Emily Carmichael. Spielberg is EP with Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley producing.

They know that, that's why they're bringing him back. He's no longer "director of one of the biggest movies of all-time," he's "director licking his wounds after an epic flop and an almost-as-epic firing."

I agree. Jurassic World blew away all of the JP films aside from the original. I'm incredibly nostalgic for JP3 but still can admit that it had its faults. I rewatched The Lost World before JW hit theaters and hated it.

Oh come on. Can't they find someone with a decent critical track record? The Jurassic Park franchise is a money maker by name alone. How about they do some actual work and find a decent writer or two.
