I also buy steelbooks because I like the artwork. Sometimes the movies are good and some are
bad. Blade Runner 2049 has great looking 4K + Blu-ray + HD steelbook. However the movie was very boring. I couldn't get the 4K steelbook book because it was sold out before Best Buy doors were open. But I did get the Blu-ray steelbook version which is a very nice looking steelbook |

AMARAY = paperback sold in airport bookstore for reading on the plane or at the beach
STEELBOOK = Collector-grade Leatherbound, hand stitched, with gilded pages, pressed gold inlay and handpainted illustrations. STREAMING = I wanna watch this in worst possible delivery system, that is pixelated and compressed to sh*t with lossy audio. |

The upcoming steels from SF, Assault on Precinct 13 and Prince of Darkness, are only in North America, I believe. All these films are owned by certain studios, obviously, so there are rights issues. Then different territories have different standards. Takes a bit of work for the boutique labels to license stuff out. |

I apologize in advance if the question that I'm about to ask doesn't belong in here, maybe someone can point me to the right thread to go.
I have some steelbook movies that I want to sell since I'm upgrading to 4K movies that includes the BD copy, no need for me to have many copies of the same movies. I won't say which steelbook movies in here in case it's the wrong thread to do so. |

I'd say so, that Ant Man and Thor Dark World can't be found for less than $60. So that's like paying rock bottom eBay prices for those 2 and getting Ultron thrown in there for an extra $15

So as the title suggests, I'd be interested to know if people gauge the quality of particular Premium release agencies when considering which version of a specific title they elect to purchase.
Not really a poll (perhaps that would have been an idea) but more a discussion as to why folk feel the way they do about unique releases. So to start, though I've only been in the game for 5 years, these are my assigned levels of quality; note: I make no mention of shipping or packaging, though that can be an issue. Tier 1: - Blufans; I don't think many would argue with this, they are the best there is at what they do. Though sometimes their title choices are strange. - Plain Archive; They don't release much but what they do is usually exceptional. Tier 2: - FAC; expensive shipping and quirky release scheduling keeps them out of tier 1 imho but their releases are usually very intricate and satisfying. - HDZeta; again, their scheduling of releases is Bat Scat crazy but their Gold releases are so gorgeous and even their silvers offer enough naff to entice sceptics. - Manta Labs; new to the game but very collectable releases and beautiful releases as well. Fortunately they have a bit of rhyme and reason to their release schedule. Tier 3: - NOVA Media; very flexible and diverse with their releases and often get titles not offered anywhere else. They don't offer the most glamorous specials for releases but their extensive catalog and far ranging choices assuredly put them in the "must look" category. Some of their titles are also unique Premiums. - Kimchi; virtually a clone of Nova's selling practices and frequently in competition for titles, they do however also offer their own established Premium specials. Tier 4: - Zavvi; Sometimes offer unique Steels but predominantly bare-bones. A good option for a Steelbook without the added cost of "extras" or premium packaging. Sometimes region locked steels can be an issue. - Best Buy; North American alternative to Zavvi. Same concept and selling practices. - Amazon; Sometimes the only place to get some Steels so needs to be mentioned. Their sales can be very attractive, There are of course a few very unique sellers out there, like Mlife and UHD and others but I tried to stay with the most well known. So this may be fun to peruse, maybe you have different views. It's meant for discussion, not argument though, heh. ![]() Cheers my friends. |

Personally, I would place FAC firmly in the Tier 1 category. The quality of their materials is second to none, at a cost.
Their slips, extras, booklets, and other goodies are exceptional. Honestly, their Maniacs Boxes and Hardboxes are magnificent, and like Blufans every edition of a 1 Click has different contents, reducing redundancies. They also release an interesting array of films, covering popular blockbusters as well as interesting films like Ex Machina and Looper. In addition, they do an amazing job of releasing complete series. The work they’re doing on the Alien and Planet Of The Apes is truly inspiring work for collectors. See also Jurassic Park, Fast and Furious, Independence Day, Ted, Kingsman, Maze Runner, etc. As noted in the OP, their pricing is up there with Blufans, but the money is worth it for releases like the Spider-Man Homecoming Maniacs Box, the Warcraft or Star Trek Beyond Hardboxes, or the new Fullslip XL Baby Driver and Murder On The Orient Express. Currently I’m totally drooling over their recently announced Shape of Water and the Maniacs Box for Blade Runner 2049. It blows HDZeta and Kimchidvd out of the water, totally different league. |
