Scott Gimple now oversees the entire TWD universe and is going to want to bring more and more money to the franchise, that'll be his job... unfortunate as it may be.

They're not going to end TWD if they still have material to use and the show is still #1 on cable. Even if they lose actors along the way, something that this show has already dealt with many times in the past, the show will continue.

Robert Kirkman has an endgame in mind. He's mapped out the comics story up to issue 200-250. In interviews he's said he had always imagined it to be a 300 issue comic series. But then goes on to say it may take 400 or 500 issues to get to the end. Or he has also said he'll stop writing the comics until he's bored with it. Another statement he's made in the past is he doesn't want the TV series to end before the comics and the comic book series to end before the show.

Why? Doing so follows the comics and honors Carl in Rick believing that bad people can change into good.

I think the show needs . . . Shane's twin brother, someone to challenge Rick and keep us engaged by constantly moving back and forth. And rubbing his head.

The leaders of the group are far too cozy with one another. Someone needs to shake up the status quo.

Exactly this. There's only so many times I can see Rick go from pacifist, to protector of his people to outright blood thirst.

This is my belief system and I realize not everyone feels the same way, but some people have gone beyond "redemption" and don't merit another chance. Would you allow Jeffrey Dahmer or Charles Manson to join your Scooby-gang?
As far as I'm concerned Rick crossed the threshold last night with his actions. I wouldn't be saddened by his demise either.

I wish there were some kind of a new threat for the characters to go up against. We've already established that the zombies are no longer the main threat and that other humans are, which is fine and all, but how many times can we do community vs community?

What is there beyond community vs community for a series like this? It feels hard to keep it fresh for years and years to come.

Rick didn't lie to Good Guy Savior. Rick very well knew what he was going to do. Which was kill the escaped Saviors. Good Guy Savior simply asked Rick to bring them back to which Rick said "I could." In other words Rick simply told him to "f*ck off" and not stop him from doing what he planned to do.

I would like to see a story (or a spin-of) of few survivors trapped or surviving in the middle of a large city like New York. The problem with the Walking Dead redundancy aren't only in the characters and the plot, but also in the settings. Lately, it's only been a) a farm far from anywhere, b) prison far from anywhere, c) forest and fields, d) communities far from... anywhere...

That could be people smart enough to survive the imminent threat but unable to completely leave the town because they are quickly overwhelmed.

I mean FearTWD first season was like that. Except it was LA not New York. Also FearTWD in general has better location diversity. It's not the same exact Georgia woods every season for TWD.
