Precisely the way I feel.

I'm surprised that they came up with such an attractive price point though. It's going to entice certain buyers, and they're going to end up spending 400 bucks on the full series again.

I've been holding out for the entire box set forever now. I assumed it would be a Blu-Ray set, but the 4k treatment for this is mouth watering. By the time this wraps up, will that be enough time to have a full 4K boxset? I hope so. Man that's going to be pricey.

If Season 1 is $50, (rounding for easy math) thats about $5 per episode of 4K UHD.

If it's around that price point, a 73 episode boxset could be around $350 (rounding again) Assuming that a boxset of a complete Game of Thrones series would have discs of extras, exclusive packaging, potential items, etc. You could easily assume a $350+ price tag will come along with it.

I've never owned a full series from television before, but this should get some kind of awesome treatment right? What's the best FULL boxset you own or have seen.

With the Sopranos Blu-ray fiasco, I would definitely wait for a boxed set.

I would even love it when "Carnivale" would eventually get a regular Blu-ray release let alone UHD...

Love Carnivale and it's a visually stunning show!

Target had Westworld 4K for $32.99 the week after releases. $5 per episode won’t stick for long.

Yea, that's true, but even at $3 an episode that would come to $219. I'm hoping there is exclusive packaging with tons of collectable items and random stuff. Thats why I'm assuming a $300 price point, but I could be totally wrong.

They can and will shove all the discs into simple and precise packaging for less money, I just really hope theres a collectors set so I can throw some money at it.

This is spectacular news. Hopefully this doesn't bite me in the butt like the Sopranos and CSI did. SMH

A few people have mentioned Sopranos. What happened with those releases?

People bought them all one by one on DVD starting around the turn of the century. First, they released S6part1 on Blu ray in 2006, then S6P2. Then season 1 came out on BD in 2009. Then years went by and none of the other single seasons made it to BD disc. Eventually there was a whole box set for the entire series of blu-rays for around $225. It has frequently gone on sale for $99 or less in the following years. Now its currently available on Amazon for only 90 bucks.

tl;dr: Early adopters got screwed.

Bad idea if they're gauging the sales to see if there's enough interest to do other seasons.

That's no bueno. Hopefully it's a good sign that these will be coming out chronologically. But considering that the series is about to wrap up it also wouldn't surprise me to see something like that happen again.

IMO there is much more replay value in GOT than Sopranos. I think HBO believes this is a guaranteed money maker on UHD.

I would have preferred steelbooks, or some other special case though.

I think it's a mistake for them to offer single seasons. No one has any idea if it will continue to be supported after say season3. They're definitely not going to be big sellers. They should have focused their efforts on making a really nice collector's box set of the entire series. Then they could have charged $300 for it and people would have lined up to buy one.

I’m not in the 4K blu-ray racket, but man am I itching for the day Apple offers free 4K upgrades for TV shows.

The iTunes copies already look infinitely better than the HBO NOW streams.

Would anyone buy a boxset right now when the final season is still far off?

I figure they'd handle this more like Harry Potter, release some individual seasons; then by the time the final season is available have a boxset and the rest of the individual seasons separately as well.
