An Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver
(2) Polk Audio Monitor70 3-Way Floorstanding Speaker (fronts)
Polk Audio RM95 5-Channel Home Theater System (L,C,R,LS,RS,BR,BL)
Polk Audio PSW10 10-Inch MonitorSeries PoweredSub
Monster Reference HTS 3600 MKII PowerCenter

I have pics of my old set up but I decided to move things around to get a more centered feel.

The problem I have is I live in an apartment building. The noise in my living room from foot traffic outside was annoying. Cars pulling in and out honking horns, stampedes of people running up and down the wooden stairs etc.

I relocated my living room to my master bedroom which has no connecting neighbors except my master bath that sits adjacent to the neighbors master bath. This gives me the most silence I can obtain.

My problem is distance. How far up would you guys recommend mounting the back surround speakers for the best sound. Also all images in manuals for my speakers and receiver show the back speakers being several feet behind the couch. If I mount them to the wall right behind the couch will this make them sound worse? Should I pull the couch forward a few feet?. How high from the floor or above my head should they be mounted for the best sound?

I am also curious about how far in front or behind the couch the side surrounds she be mounted as well as the height from the floor? Again all pictures in manuals show them being right next to the viewer not ahead of behind the couch at all.

Also how far is the best distance from the side surrounds and the back surrounds so they wont cancel each other out?

Anyways guys thanks for listening. I look forward to hearing from everyone.
I also hope I picked the right place to post this thread
Judging by your pictures in your HT Gallery, it looks like you've made it work with the space you have. I didn't see anything that i would really change. Like i said, it looks like you've accomodated your setup to the space you have. It might not be ideal, but it looks just fine to me!

On another note, may i ask how much you paid for your power center? I've been looking into those...
