I would buy a multiregion Blu-ray player tomorrow if they existed in Australia, but I think I'm going to buckle and buy a cheap Region B player to complement my Region A PS3. Annoying to have to have two devices.

If you want, the (main?) company for modified BD-players ships worldwide as well. For Australia you'll pay AUD 90 (Euro 45) for shipment of one of their multiregion BD-players, see: http://www.bluraymods.com/faq.asp

However, a modified Panasonic BD-35 will cost you AUD 1.000 though (Euro 499), see:

Yeah, a bit rich for my taste. I bought an early modded DVD player back in the day, and then a couple of years later EVERY player was multiregion, and a quarter of the price. I'm hoping the same happens with Blu-ray.

I'd rather have 2 players and save $600 right now, but if I could get a local multiregion player for only a little more than a quality 2.0 Region B player (say, $450-500), that would be great.

www.stegen.com sells already modified sony & panasonic blu ray players to play blu & dvd region free. pricy but worthwhile if you have a large collection!

(Stegen.com is one of the distributors of BluRayMods, see: http://www.bluraymods.com/distributors.asp)

A.F.A.I.K. www.JVBDigital.com also ships within the USA (for free, but they are a bit more expensive), so I presume they have a second-base in the States (the other one being in The Netherlands). They used to be one of the distributors of BluRayMods also, but for some reason they are no longer on their list. On the other hand, they also do HD-SDI modifications.
