And this is the whole problem. Materializing fan fantasies at the expense of everything else. Logic, tone and consistency be damned.

The thing is that they were portrayed as able to be trained and to obey orders, and they do obey when it's convenient for what they wanted to do. Doesn't matter the parts where they behave like wild animals. It's the parts where they don't that are the problem. They are inconsistent, contrived and used out of convenience for some weird sort of "cool factor". That ridiculous Rex/Raptor team up at the end of Jurassic World is the extreme they chose to go at the expense of the remanining suspension of disbelief any person could still have left by that point.

Hate? Why would animals 'hate' anything? If what you meant to say is that both saw the new dino as a threat, then what's the logic behind not seeing a threat in each other as well? Again, it's contrived and illogical.

Oh, please. They were portrayed in such a way that only thing left for them to do was to wink at each other and shake hands before they parted ways.

Wish Spielberg would get off the "militarized dinosaur" concept because even the unused Jurassic Park IV Sayles drafts years ago used that idea. Here we are and it's the central focus of this new movie because Steven can't let go of it. Disappointing. So much you can do with dinosaurs and yet they're going with the most heavy handed, dull concept imaginable it looks like.

Ok now am confused....
In The first movie we clearly see Dr.Wi getting on a chopper with a breifcase full of Dino dna samples. So why would they need the dino’s off the island?
Blue I guess cos she is part-trained and they don’t want to start from scratch raising and training more raptors.

I think that's precisely it. The whole "Save the dinosaurs from the island" is just a ruse by the company to get Owen and Claire to capture Blue. I wouldn't be surprised that we find out that there is something in Blue's DNA that makes her unique beyond just being a raptor.

My sister has to jam a chair under the kitchen door at night to stop the kitties from getting out, same dealio with the handles. Clever girls...

Trailer looks AWESOME. Seems like we're getting a retread of Lost World but hopefully I'll actually like it in this guise. Love how it looks too, the 'scope ratio doesn't hurt it in the least for me.

For this same cat who can open doors we’ve had to put magnetic child locks on the pantry doors. Otherwise the little shit will break in and eat all of our food...

As kids, just the sight of seeing lifelike dinosaurs on the big screen was enough to excite us. We were able to overlook ridiculous moments and plot points because at the end of the day the movie was just fun. Now through lens of an adult, they feel the need to be overly critical and nitpick everything. What they fail to realize is that many of their favourites in the series could be picked apart if they didn’t allow nostalgia to cloud their judgment. Jurassic Park is arguably in my top 5 favorite films of all time and you know what? It has plenty of ridiculous moments that many of us overlooked. For starters, the whole concept is ridiculous. Let’s clone dinosaurs using DNA we found in sap encased mosquitos. Through these mosquitoes we conveniently find just enough DNA to clone not just one species of dinosaur but multiple species of dinosaurs. Now let’s put these animals in a zoo like environment because what could possibly go wrong, and just to be safe let’s put electric fences up that can be completely shutdown by a single individual and so on. This is just the plot but there are plenty of other silly moments like Tim being electrocuted by a 10k volt electric fence, Lex being able to hack/use a multi-billion dollar state of the art security system, Alan Grant just knowing that a T-Rex can not see you if you do not move, or that Rexy is a ninja given that she was able to stealthily save the day during the climax. The list could go on and on. However, all of this just doesn’t matter because the film is simply fun. It’s a wild ride from beginning to end.

This is why I find it downright hilarious that people will overlook the above in that film but will then say things like “a raptor wouldn’t do that” (as if they have seen and studied the real life behaviour of a raptor) or “the hybrid concept is stupid.” Well newsflash, all the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are hybrids.
I couldn't agree more. When the first Jurassic World came out people were complaining about how stupid and ridiculous it was. Now to be fair, JW is stupid and ridiculous but so is Jurassic Park. One of the best summaries for JW was from Honest Trailers "It's basically a big budget Syfy Channel movie" which is true, but that's also true of the original. I like all of the Jurassic Park films and I'm really looking forward to Fallen Kingdom, but whenever I hear people say that the franchise got stupid after the first film I feel like shouting The first film was stupid!.

Can we please stop acting like the first Jurassic Park is some brilliant work of intelligent science fiction that examines what it means to be human, and just enjoy it for the dumb, cheesy, scientifically inaccurate, but still totally awesome monster flick that it is?

Jurassic Park may be preposterous (surely not a cardinal sin for a sci-fi) and scientifically inaccurate (who the hell cares?), but it's not a stupid movie.

Fair enough, perhaps "stupid" is too strong a word. I mean we're not talking about Transformers: Like it even matters what the subtitle is here.
I was only trying to make a point about the people who claim that JP is a smarter movie than it actually is.
Hell, I think the film itself thinks it's smarter than it actually is, some of the dialogue comes off as pretentious to me.
Which is why I don't love the overall film quite as much as I did when I was a kid. ( I still love it though, I'm using Rexy as my icon for crying out loud! )

In fact, one of the things I liked about Jurassic World is that it doesn't pretend to be smart, it just tries to be a fun big-budget B-movie.
Speaking of big-budget B-movies, that's pretty much what Jurassic Park was. After all, Spielberg directed it simultaneously along with Schindler's List. Which film do you think was more important to him?

[Show spoiler]Fun Fact: Supposedly, Spielberg was hardly involved in JP's post-production, as again he was busy with Schindler's List, so he got his old buddy George Lucas to supervise it for him. Apparently, Lucas was so impressed by what he saw that it helped inspire him to do the Star Wars prequels.

I can’t believe some still find trained raptors so ridiculous.

If we can somewhat train lions and other animals in real life surely dinosaurs cloned by humans can be trained to a certain extent in a sci-fi movie.

Cloning is very believable...but training the animal we created?! Too far guys.

Speaking for myself, I don't think training raptors is ridiculous. In fact, I've been defending that aspect from the start, since we are able to train all sorts of dangerous animals. But I do think they were pushing it till the point it just wasn't believable anymore, they took it too far. You see, it's one thing to learn an intelligent animal little tricks or make it listen (for example "Stay!") by rewarding it with some snacks. Certain scenes go far beyond that, certainly keeping in mind they never did some of those things before in a whole new situation.

But OK, even when I accept all of that, which I kinda did, for me personally it kinda killed the threat and tension that comes with a raptor showing up. The whole idea of Blue as a pet (I know I'm exaggerating) is not helping either. I can't help but think of the Bruce Almighty line : We've got a Walt Disney here!

Also, and that's an endless discussion between people who can notice these things immediately and people who just can't (it's in the brain, we can't help it), the fact that the raptors couldn't convince me of being real during daylight scenes, didn't help either. Their movements, the way they didn't blend in with the background, the over detailed eyes that distracted me, ... In all three JP movies, I never had that. Same with Rexy, my hero. I have to say though, Fallen Kingdom is looking very good when it comes to that. Fingers crossed.
