I am looking for a new place to download music from. I don't like iTunes because of DRM. Also gets kinda pricey at $0.99 a song. Is there any sites that cost like $15-30 a month, that gives you unlimited or even 500 songs a month?

Apple is DRM free now. At least 80% of their songs.
This has been announced at MacWorld a few days ago

Other than that... I have been downloading a few songs from Amazon every now and then, but am not aware of any monthly subscription sites.

8 million of the iTunes Stores' 10 million music tracks are now DRM-free (and 256Kbps), and the rest of the catalog will be by April 1.

Amazon is DRM free and most songs range from 79 to 99 cents. Spiral Frog is completely free and legal...... but is a PIA to navigate and use.

Never herd of Spiral Frog, but will look into them. But Apple's $0.99 a song adds up fast and I am not into pirating...

You need a zune, If you want to take the music with you

but Zune has a monthly zune pass for $15 a month, unlimited downloads(you still need the membership to access the downloaded tracks)

and you get 10 free credits to KEEP any songs you want

emusic is subscription too. Their selection is mostly independent and jazz/classical, though. Right up my alley.

For anyone who wants actual lossless (i.e. quality) music will be mostly out of luck for the forseeable future, sadly.

For lossless? Sure, that can work but you never know how many people will have encoded their songs at the best rate and some even put fakes up where they've tried to "make" a lossless file out of an mp3 or the like.

Again, until the unlikely-day arrives that in some official capacity lossless music can be bought online from any genre, many lossless-devotees are struck out (as it is especially-expensive to buy tons of CDs to rip especially if there are only specific tracks you'd like to have).

It's ironic in that as a Blu-ray fan you clearly opt for quality but with music you opt for quantity (or just because you don't care about quality when it comes to music as perhaps you personally cannot hear the difference).

Different folks, different strokes.

It's easy to tell: if it's MP3, AAC, ADPCM, ATRAC, WMA, Musepack or Ogg Vorbis it is lossy. If it's...

Apple Lossless – ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec)
Audio Lossless Coding – also known as MPEG-4 ALS
MPEG-4 SLS – also known as HD-AAC
Direct Stream Transfer – DST
Dolby TrueHD
DTS-HD Master Audio
Free Lossless Audio Codec – FLAC
Meridian Lossless Packing – MLP
Monkey's Audio – Monkey's Audio APE
OptimFROG
RealPlayer – RealAudio Lossless
Shorten – SHN
TTA – True Audio Lossless
WavPack – WavPack lossless
WMA Lossless – Windows Media Lossless

... than it's lossless.

Again, true (although many will argue on that and say only vinyl was/is the true lossless format) but it is too expensive to just buy and rip/encode a bunch of CDs especially if you are only after certain tracks from certain artists/bands.

Ditto, I could never understand how come bluray fans whine about having the best audio yet they have an ipod and listen to compressed music hehe.

Myself give me a kick butt stereo with cds and records anyday.

Just in general, not directing this at anyone.

I was told with the Zune, the track erase them selfs, after so many days. You don't really get to keep them.

i think that's if you share them with someone else who also has a zune. 3 days or 3 plays is the max time allowed i believe.
