1400$CDN shipping and tax included.

Here's my quick review after having played around with it for a while.

First thing I noticed...this receiver is HUGE, it's one big mothaf#@ka. And heavy to boot. I will have to "hack" my a/v stand so that it fits

Setup was quick and easy, pretty straight forward but then again I'm not someone who has trouble setting a VCR to record (am I showing my age?). Ergo, I'm not technology challenged and rarely need to refer to the manual.

It sounds great paired with my Athena speakers. And it is nice to see I can dim the display or turn it off completely along with the light around the volume knob. The remote is huge too, but the buttons are properly laid out and the light button is easy to find (right on the side). The power cord is thick and solid...usually indicates proper transfer of current and well insulated. Although I find the connection with receiver and power cord is not snug enough.

It does get hot, but I wouldn't say its out of the ordinary. You can also enter custom labels for inputs...such as "Blu-Ray" rather than the default "DVD" label.

Microphone setup of speakers is simple too. plug in the mic and follow the instructions....just be quiet while it does it's thing.

So thats about it....Any questions?

I'm very pleased with it. Sounds great to me

not exactly. What he is saying is if you pass a 1080p signal through, it will be 1080p. If you pass a 720p through, it will be 720p...

but if you pass 480p it will only upconvert to 720p... so if you hook up a nintendo wii it would only go to 720p...

...if you output a bluray at 1080p, you would be fine, it will be 1080p.

(Onkyo 605 is a good reciever)

The 805 comes with a all-in-one remote .... perhaps not at the level of those logitech ones, but it's a pretty awesome remote. (It can be programmed by code and it has a self learning option)

Default Sr 805

I have one of these and they are VERY nice. Actually, the best thing I like about it is the Audyssy (sp?) speaker and eq set up. You place the included mic in the various listening positions likely to be used and let it send out it's test signal from each speaker. It measures distance from each speaker to each other, distance from each to the listener at that position and the eq of the room at that spot. It then takes about 45 seconds or more to calculate it all and the result is great. Made my system better sounding than ever before by a significant margin. Sets the delays, etc. Sense of space is wonderful. I played a DVD Audio disc of an orchestra (though I mainly listen to the rock/pop stuff), and it really, for the first time, gave the real sense of a large orchestra in a large space.

Soundtracks are stellar. And the features are nice.

The only thing I'd say to Dace is don't wait too long for the DTS HD Master soundtrack. They are few and far between on Blu Ray.
