It would only be worth it, if the media was encoded with a true 21:9 signal (2K, 4K?) - as far as I know, that's not going to happen with Blu-Ray? They could squeeze it in to the 1080x1920, then stretch it? (Rectangular pixels), Most likely it will just display the cropped 16:9 image, masking out the black bars at the top and bottom, showing 822x1920 pixels.
